Three years ago my friend Amy and I were looking for a way to bring customers into Behm’s Sawdust City while helping the community. After about a month of throwing ideas around Amy came across an advertisement for Toys for Tots, and we decided that this would be a great way to bring people in and help the community. Little did we know that it would be a huge success! Every year we have had to become more organized. The first time we get together we decide on what band we are going to try and book and where we are going to ask for donations. Next we split up and go to different businesses and individuals that have donated in the past or may want to donate this year. Finally we advertise for the dance and start looking for volunteers to help.…

Tuesday, December the eighth, I had my first experience volunteering. As an active member of Webster County High School’s Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) club, I decided that I would leave archery practice a few minutes early and head towards the Providence Food Bank. Every second Tuesday of each month, HOSA meets at the food bank at five-thirty to help prepare senior citizen boxes and assist people in shopping at the food bank. Intrigued by the opportunity to gain a few bonus points and support the club that I am passionate about, I figured why not give it a…

I’m Antonio Jones, just another student at the high school. I personally think that giving money to charity is a great idea. It’s a good way to spend and also share your money with people who don’t have much or none. Just for the simple fact that there are people all over the world that are starving. It would be okay if the school’s treasury could give 250$ to each or give 500$ to both, but they can’t.…

What is Neewollah? Neewollah is a time where we not only give candy to the kids that come and roam through the dorms but it’s also about giving back to the community in which we are a part of and it’s also about connecting with the organizations that nurture kids from different backgrounds, gender, and religion but taking them all as one. The exciting day took place on October 30th,2017 at 2:00 pm in my dorm room, Me and my friend had discussed it all day and was very excited to be a part of a good cause. We started off with following the instruction that faculty gave us, and it included setting up the candy (which was provided) in the bowl and putting up the trick or treat sign outside the door to let them know we was involved in it although…

After being a part of Key Club throughout my high school years, I learned how to give back to the community that has raised me and the conspicuous impact I can have in someone’s life simply through volunteering. Through Key Club, I help create service projects with local organizations and give members of our club an opportunity to volunteer and give back. One experience I will never forget is helping set up a blood drive in school with one of our local organizations, Bloodworks Northwest, a local blood bank that helps saves lives through research, innovation and education in blood. Our Key Club had to inform the school of the event that was happening, and encourage students to donate blood. It required hours of creating posters, informing the…

This year’s event took place across the nation on October 28 and the residents of the Ocean Ridge Plantation were amongst the many volunteers across the country giving of their time to help make an impact on their community. Under the direction of committee members George Briggs, Laura Wheaton, Corinne Eisenstein, Kath Larson, Pris Lovell and Beth Naylor, their ambition was to engage over 100 resident volunteers in a hands-on charitable activity – Ocean Ridge Goes M.A.D.D. – and by day’s end, they surpassed that…

It is unfair for us to get whatever we want for Christmas, but homeless people don’t get anything at all. The homeless need to feel loved during this holiday season. Many people in society do not pay attention to the problems of homelessness; they do not care about the poor and forgotten. The Spiritans are known for helping the poor and forgotten members of the world. As students in a Spirian school, we both want to help the poor and forgotten of the world. The charisms we both have to offer are compassion. We are compassionate people that truly care for others. We also are good listeners, and can listen to the poor people and their stories and offer them love. We are doing this project not just because we have to do it, but we want to do it. We feel compelled to do this, for the good of others. We want to make a change in our community even its small. The Spiritans do the work that many do not want to do. That is exactly what Conor and I are going to do in our…
