Tribute Speech
(about my dad) A quote by Pope John XXIII reads as follows, “It is easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father.” I know that I’m blessed in who my dad is. When picking who to write about for my speech, it didn’t even occur to me to write about anyone other than my father. My dad’s name is Gregory Lance McCaffrey, Sir for short, and while he might drive me crazy sometimes (and I him) I know that I can always come to him with any problem that I have. One of the best parts of my dad is his accessibility and his honesty. Even when I was little and still excited about the world, my dad would always have time and patience to listen to me. I’d ask something like, “Where do babies come from?” and he’d tell me Jesus gave them to parents because I’m an angel. I’m sure he doesn’t think that anymore but when I was five I was adorable. Even now, whenever I need to talk to him or ask a question he’s always there, ready and willing to listen. His ability to always be there really strengthened our relationship. It’s one of the main reasons why I love my dad. Even though he did lie about where babies come from, my dad’s usually pretty good about being honest. It’s easy to let little white lies into our daily conversations, but my father’s never been caught in one. If he tells you something then you can complete believe that it is the truth. He told me once that he believes in honesty for the sake of honesty. That is, if you lie to others, then they’ll just do the same to you. I’ve been caught up in a few lies, almost everyone has, but I’m glad to know there’s one person I can give my trust too and it won’t be misplaced. I give tribute to my dad, he’s one of the most important people in my life, and without him I know I’d be a very different person. Thank you dad, for all that you’ve taught me, and all that you’ve sacrificed for me. I love you.

October 27, 2008 the day the city of Philadelphia finally could breathe a sigh of relief. On this date the Philadelphia Phillies won the 2008 World Series, breaking the city’s long 25 years of heart breaks since the city’s last major sport championship. They beat the Tampa Bay Rays in 5 Games in the best of 7 series. Four days later the city’s dreams of a parade down Broad Street finally became a reality. On October 31st, 2008 instead of costumes and Halloween candy the city was painted red. Everywhere you could see, everyone was celebrating the World Championship of our Philadelphia Phillies. The city took a day off. Whether it be from school, work, or even a day full of errands, the city shut down to be a part of this great memory. Hundreds of thousands poured into the heart of the Philadelphia. As the parade marched on down Broad Street, fans lined the street 40 to 50 rows of people deep. The sea of red shirts flooded Broad Street, but was then separated by the flatbed trucks that carried our beloved champions. The roar of the crowd chanting, “Let’s Go Phillies!” echoed throughout the entire city just like the Liberty Bell used too when it rang so many years ago. The parade ended in Citizens Bank Park with a sellout crowd. As they held up the trophy the place erupted in cheers.…

First, Paul’s actions agreed with his beliefs. He knew from the very beginning what he was called to do, which was to tell others about his Lord. Even while he was still in Damascus, some people conspired to take his life, but he found out about their plans and safely escaped (Acts 9:23-25). He truly had become what he had hated so much before. And thus began Paul’s life as a follower of Jesus. I can respect a man whose life and beliefs agree with each other. I can respect Paul.…

Today we are celebrating your Bar-Mitzvah, the time that they call the “acceptance of all the mitzvot.” As your older brother, I can tell you that its not the easiest part of growing up, but Dad would want me to say that you must always work your best to realize the importance of being a Jew and too love judaism. In celebrating your Bar Mitzvah this shabbos, and going on in life, you must always remember the core of who you are as a jew and what you represent. As I watch you grow and become a man, I think about who you are already. Your spirit and enthusiasm for life is something that was innate to you since you were born, and you must use that excitement for life forever. The most…

The night I found out about my dad, I couldn’t understand why this was happening to me. At first, all I could think of were moments that he wouldn’t be able to witness. From seeing me graduate college to walking me down the aisle, it felt like I was being hit with a tsunami as I realized that soon, I would have to walk the path of life without my dad. How was it fair that I would have my dad ripped from my life after only 15, 16, or 17 years? I spent so much time feeling bad for myself that I didn’t see just how lucky I really was. While there are people in this world who have never known their parents, I’ve been blessed to know my father for 15 years. Despite the fact that many people in this world take their parents for granted,…

Never say Never was one of the most inspirational movies I've EVER seen, and i don't think I'll ever see one that beats it. Every day i hear hateful comments on Justin, things like " He's gay" " He sounds like a girl" " he's so fake" And all this stuff, haters can go ahead and hate, but if you actually took a second too stop the hating, and listen too the words that come out of Justin's mouth, listen too his songs, watch his movie, I promise you'd see him from a whole new perspective. I always thought Justin Bieber was just some hot Canadian that had a good voice, but he's so much more. He's given up so much for his fans, it's unbelievable. He'd rather sing his heart out at a concert then lay down when he's sick, he puts the people he loves…

At first we did not get along at all, but he never gave up on me. He was always there making sure I was making the right decisions and teaching me every painful lesson for making the wrong decision. I remember when I was 14 and I sort of ran away, but eventually got hungry and started riding my bike home. I got about half way there and sure enough he pulled up alongside me in the truck and all he said was “I’ll be waiting for you at home boy”. With only about 2 miles left it took me about 1 hour and a half. When I finally got there he knocked me off my bike and started teaching in his own way. This is by far…
