Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Research Paper
Well the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory was owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris. This factory was located in Manhattan, New York. It was a sweatshop that employed young and old immigrant women who needed money to provide for their families and to quote from the video they needed an “economic security”. This sweat shop worked women in cramped places on sewing machines for fourteen hours a day only making two dollars. Now most of these immigrants were teens and the youngest one being fourteen. This factory was well known for the “shirtwaist” clothing. Because one of the owners wasn’t trusting that resulted in more deaths and believed. To be employed now I could not imagine even being in that situation, having to see lives lost and think about all the loved ones your losing. Women who you talk to everyday shoving and kicking you out of the way to survive. I am happy laws are made to prevent this from happening again. It an awful thing to witness someone who goes to work and doesn’t return home for dinner, that is an awful feeling. Loved ones were lost, daughter and mothers. Mothers that were working with their daughters either saw their family member die or escape. The fact that not everyone at my job takes the fire safety tips or any safety tips serious should really reconsider, I know I will. Safety should be the priority of all unions. This fire should not have happened with the proper guide in dangerous situations. In the video it says that there were a dozen pales of water in the corner, that was there precaution. That is ridiculous, it was already engulfed in flames how was anyone expected to grab them. Thank goodness today people notice the importance of workers safety, even though to notice costed many people’s
