Stem Cell therapy, otherwise known as regenerative medicine and tissue regeneration, refers to a variety of treatments that assist the body’s natural ability to heal itself, in other words, repair, replace, restore, and regenerate damaged and diseased tissue to degenerative conditions or injury. Many of these treatments and techniques in regenerative medicine utilize stem cells, called stem cell therapy.
Stem cell therapy shows great promise, and helps us understand how our body can heal itself, and utilize these specialty cells to treat a range of diseases, injuries, and other health-related conditions.

Stem cells are defined by two characteristics. Within a few days, a stem cell has the ability to divide into many other types of cells. These cells can turn into “specialized” cells to help heal injured and degenerated tissue, to ensure that the body will function properly. Each type of cell has its own size and structure appropriate for its job, and stem cells can adapt to where it is needed most.
Stem cells come from different places in the body or are formed at different times in our lives. These include embryonic stem cells that exist only at the earliest stages of development (birth), and various types of adult stem cells called mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), that remain in our bodies throughout life.
