Traffic Signs and Markings on Ermita
One area of concern of Transportation Engineering is the operation and management of facilities for any mode of transportation for a safe and rapid flow of traffic. The long-standing techniques in the operation and management of traffic flow are by using traffic signs, signals and pavement markings.

Signs and markings are communication devices. They communicate rules and regulations, warn road users about hazards, and inform people how to get to their destination. These important communication tools, when used properly, provide roadway users with critical information to help them safely navigate the highway system Signs and markings are communication devices. These important communication tools, when used properly, provide roadway users with critical information to help them safely navigate the highway system.

Informing road users what they need to know, and when they need to know it, can make roads and intersections safer and more efficient. By helping to prevent collisions, good sign management and maintenance reduce your liability risk. On the other hand, poor sign management and maintenance can contribute to incidents, thus increasing liability exposure.

In this report I have recognized significant issues concerning traffic signs and pavement markings. Some of these include the readability and retroreflectivity of the traffic signs, meeting road user needs and maintenance. This work is a reflection of my thoughts regarding the traffic signs and markings in the roads near SM manila and Manila City Hall. I have observed its location, appearance, and acceptability of the public. Some solutions and suggestions about the traffic signs and markings in the said location were sited in this report.
