Disadvantage and Advantage of Education Choices
Students today have so many options to enhance their education. While traditional education has advantages for the students, online education can have the same components and techniques just in a different method of teaching. Online education better prepares a colleague for their future by offering smaller student to teacher ratios and tailoring materials to the student's specific interests; however, traditional school education prepares a colleague to interact with groups of other students and learn social skills and conflict resolution, through sports or other outside activities. Each education method has advantages and disadvantages for students to choose the best education for each individual needs. The students can compare and contrast the pros and cons of each educational method to make the best choice about their education. During the early years in the 1950’s, it was the traditional school education or the option to have no education for the students to choose for their future. This was the only option because of the lack of technology that was available to the economy to do the online education. Today we are more advanced in technology and still growing in this category. The first advantage of the traditional students had been that they were able to learn to socialize with other students. Socialization is a very important learning ability to learn in the traditional school environment that will be effective throughout life. This helps students in everyday situations when dealing with other people. Some examples would be manners, sharing, and conflict that may arise in a situation.
The second advantage would be teacher student instruction. In traditional School education, there are usually 15 to 20 students to one teacher in a classroom environment. In this setting the teacher is in one central location where the students are in the classroom and can ask for help if questions arise at any given time of the class instructional day.
The final advantages for the traditional school would be dealing with conflict in a class. An example of this situation would be distractions from the peers and how to deal with the peers and the situation. This method will help in the work place when conflict rises in the job workforce. These are three advantages of the traditional school education.
If the student likes flexibility and no set time to attend school then online school education is the choice for the student. In addition to flexibility; the student will be able to do all their class work at home and not step foot into a classroom with other students. The second advantages would be leadership skills they learn on their own to take charge to motivate their selves to complete the tasks they were given. Students will learn their ability due to completing their assessments on their own and managing their time effectively during the semester. This is accomplished because online school education is paced mainly to the student’s ability in the classroom. The final advantage is that the students would be able to work on their own and not deal with the distractions from colleagues, but could have some distractions at home, and would be able to resolve the issue. These are just some advantages of online education students could look into to help choose the best education for their future. Practical as the advantages are for the school education, there are disadvantage for the both educational methods. The first disadvantages for the traditional school is set time. Classes start and end at certain time of the day that is best for the instructor of the class. They don’t take time to see what time works best for the students in the classroom. The second disadvantages is in the classroom the teacher has other students and sometimes can’t stay on a specific topic or question that may not be clear to a student. The instructor must decide what’s best for the whole class not just one or some students lack of knowledge on material. The final disadvantage of traditional school is the heavy books that need to be carried to the classroom along with other materials needed in the classroom. Social Skills is a very important part of student’s life to learn throughout their education. This is why social skills is a disadvantages for the online school education. It is not easy getting their skills when staying home in front of a computer and not seeing other students in the classroom face to face, or being able to play sports or join in an activity to gain these skills. Online education won’t have conflict resolution learned through sports and activities like in a traditional school education. Another disadvantage of online education would be that the students have to maintain internet. Students need to have a good working computer, a printer, and a fast paced internet connection. This is the only way to communicate to the instructor of the course a student takes online. This would also mean no face time with the instructor. The student many have video chat, but for the most part the student can go the whole semester and never know the instructor of the classroom. The final disadvantage I would like to gear to students would be the funding. Schools get a lot of different funding each year for students in the traditional school settings. The traditional schools are losing money to the online school education. These are just some disadvantage of education the students my view to make a decision about traditional and online schooling. Students have the option to choose their type of school they would like to attend. There are many advantages and disadvantage of traditional and online school education. It would be the decision of the student to decide which education method is better preparation for their future to make and achieve their goal. After doing my research, my perceptive of the best option would be online education. This education method helps save on gas and lets me stay home with family. I can also go to a great accredited college and don’t have to worry if it is out of state to attend and get my degree. I know some fellow undergraduates selected their degree because of the lack of selections at certain schools, but online you have many options and freedom to decide on to attend the best school. If the student wants flexibility, less distractions, and self-motivation then online education is for them to attend. If the students want that student instructor environment, socialization experience, and learn how to deal with conflict in person then traditional education is the way to go to further your education. Both education methods have excellent points to waive when making your final choice, but it is the individual choice not the schools.

While online classes are a part of many colleges, there is intense debate over whether they should be incorporated into high school education. The advocates of online education key in on the convenience, flexibility, self direction, cost savings, safety, creativity, pacing aspect and access to resources. Others think that blended learning which combines virtual education and face-to-face instruction is the most effective route, but possibly not the most cost effective.…

We have to teach things that used to be taught at home, such as manners and social skills. Socialization in the classroom could be teaching students how to interact with others on the playground, what to do when a substitute teacher is in the classroom, what do you do when there is a fire drill? Students need to know how to interact with the same children, of the same age, in the same classroom every day that they are in school. What do they do if they don’t get along with someone? How do I make friends? Why can’t I just yell across the room? You teach them these skills before they will need to use them. You want them to know what to anticipate when it happens, so there is no confusion about their…

As a convenient and inexpensive way to gain knowledge while pursuing higher education, online learning, a form of training or teaching that takes place over the Internet, has been considered as an alternative to traditional classroom learning (Zhang et al, 2004). This essay will argue that even though online learning has benefit such as flexibility which could outweigh traditional learning, traditional classroom learning might still not be entirely replaced. This essay will discuss positive and negative aspects of online and traditional learning in terms of four criteria: flexibility and time management, freedom of speech and deeper learning, interaction and students’ perspectives. In conclusion, the author suggests a blended learning with both advantages of online learning and traditional learning are combined (Paechter & Maier, 2010:296).…
