 Abstract:
The i5000 Inflight Entertainment System (IFES) is designed and manufactured by Thales Avionics, Inc.
The IFES is part of the TopSeries™ Family of Inflight Entertainment Systems.The IFES is reconfigurable to meet various airline needs and aircraft types.
IFES entertainment features include:

• Audio/Video On-Demand (AVOD) where passengers can select movies, pre-recorded television programming

• Interactive high resolution map and travel information provided by Airshow™ (ASXi) shows the aircraft's route of flight, current location, in-flight time, time remaining, local time, and real-time weather information. High resolution maps feature various passenger controlled zoom levels and information pages.

• Video games

A. System Operation
The IFES provides broadcast entertainment, AVOD, and interactive programming to each passenger seat.
The cabin crew and maintenance personnel use the Interactive Cabin Management Terminal (iCMT) to operate the IFES. iCMT Cabin Crew and IFES Maintenance screens are customized for the specific aircraft configuration and airline requirements. System configuration information is provided through the system configuration database that is loaded along with the system software.
Once the aircraft is in-flight, the cabin crew authorizes the passengers access to IFES entertainment.The Smart Video Display Unit (SVDU) provides a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and a touchscreen to allow the passenger to select from the available entertainment features.Passengers can also use the Tethered Passenger Control Unit (TPCU) in place of the
