Abstract My Assignment 1 Exploration of a Journal Article in Sociology will summarize my readings of Race, Ethnicity, & Law Enforcement. This report will include details of how African American first arrived in the United States. Additionally, included will be how it is analyzed that race plays a part in law enforcement.

Explain the reason for selecting topic one, identify the audience, and provide a preliminary thesis. My first topic is: Should rules requiring all members of a jury to agree for conviction be changed? I choose this topic simply because I always felt that the judicial is always worthy of research. My audience will people who are interested in jury cases, such as potential jurors, victims and defendants. My thesis statement is no, the rule requiring all members of the jury to agree for a conviction should not be changed. Two credible sources that will be used for this topic will be listed on the reference page.

My second topic is: Should citizens be permitted to carry a concealed weapon to their workplace (e.g., office, school, construction site)? I choose this topic because it made me think of the circumstances at Sandy Hook School. My audience will be those who are concerned with gun control.
