Topic 3: Write an Essay Deseribing Your Favourite Place.
“A house is a home when it shelters the body and comforts the soul.” (Phillip Moffitt)
What does a house mean to you? Is it just a place where you sleep and eat or is it a small world that keeps some secrets of yours, where you feel comfortable and protected? In many occasions, people have asked me what would my dream house look like. I never really thought about it, but after seeing a beautiful house in a movie, I immediately said that it was my dream house (I immediately thought of it as my favorite place).

One day I want to have an enormous house surrounded with by a beautiful garden. There will have a yard covered with many kinds of flowers in front of the house. When I get to in to the yard, my eyes will be pampered with the colorful flowers, which made a gorgeous contrast with the green mowed grass. I can see a stack of yellow chrysanthemum that stood perkily beside the blooming red roses. Then, when I glance to another side of the garden where the purple orchids and pink hyacinths sat next to each other against the wall. The combination of the flowers, the grass, and the soil give out a very natural smell.

At the end of the garden, there is my house which has a big white main door. The house is coated with pale pink paint and a brick-red roof stood onto it. That is a house on green field and after I start a family it will be considered a loving home.

One of the most important details about a house is the location. My house will be located where it is quiet and peaceful. I want my house to be located where it is warm in the summer and cold in rainy season. It should be set in a high place to get sunshine and avoid flooding. The structure of a house is a very important part of construction of the house. The house is going to have two stories and a full basement. There will be windows with shutters on each side of the house. There will also be windows in the basement where some of the ground has been dug out so light can get into the basement. My

Everyone always has to have a place to be born, a place to grow up and a place to become yourself. It’s true that emotional aspects influence profoundly upon how one visualizes home. However, physical aspects are the house of home. Without land, a physical place, the picture about home in one's soul will not come out easily. In fact, many people who are capable of building thousand houses find it hard to really build a home. A house is a simply a shelter while a home is a family with full of love and care. Home has different meanings and memories for each person. For myself, home is my homeland, thus home is very meaningful because home is always in my heart with love. The quote “the power of motherland so fundamental to the part of the world seems palliative.” in Holly Morris’ Ted Talk titled “Why stay in Chernobyl? Because it’s home,” really impacts me. Morris demonstrates the importance of deep connection between home and people.…

The house was a small, white cottage-style with black trimming and a beautiful flower garden that led up to the front door. I can still smell the aroma of freshly cut flowers that would occupy the crystal clear glass vase on the dining room table. There were draping, well-established grape vines that covered the wooden arbor as you pulled into the driveway. It was the house my Grandma had lived in for most of her life and you could almost see the memories that encumbered the atmosphere. When I entered her house it was usually through the back door where I would have to navigate my way through the very flimsy, squeaky screen door that lead…

Besides the technicalities of professional building, everyone can simply understand the basic processes for the planning and building of a house. Building requires a strong idea, time and a sharp mental wit. Some people are very creative with their building. A homeless man with duct tape and cardboard can make a grand structure. Tearing out a wall in a trailer and making an addition to the building is always helpful in expanding a room. Building a complete and new building from nothing more than imaginative thinking, materials and some good old hard labor is a task like no other.…

Here in this small community, seemingly blocked off from the rest of the world, lies a small slate colored house with a large white tarp sheltering the driveway. Adjacent to it, is a fairly large camping trailer that, if it's lucky, gets used for its intended purpose. The maroon deck in the foreground brings life and color to the dull, 1- story house. The front yard, in which I spent my childhood, seems everlastingly covered with the blades of the towering trees that I have grown so accustomed to. The aroma of the rainfall the night prior still lingers in the air, even as the sun begins to rise over the dewy, frost ridden lawn. Here, in the confines of my own habitat, listening to the songs of the morning birds and the blue jays, is where I connected with my surroundings. Here, is where I call home..…

Wright positioned the house right above the horizon line, which gives the viewer a feel of invitation. It was as if the house was right in front of us. Perspective is also used well here. All the lines of the house leads to a vanishing point. The structure of the house is created with many rectangular shapes and horizontal lines. With this it gives the overall building a horizontal feel which emphasize a connection to the earth. The plants, trees, rocks that surrounds this building and the waterfall, definitely gave a organic feel to this house. The color used in this drawing is well chosen and used appropriately. Wright wanted this house to be in harmony with nature so the earthly-tone colors fits…

A House Is Not a Home

People all around the world today live with the idea that one day they will be living in the perfect house with the perfect family. This represents a stereotypical view that has been viewed as a social norm for many years now in which society only thinks about the physical aspects of a home. There is much more tied in to living the so called ‘American Dream’ that goes way beyond the materialistic desires. In The House on Mango Street, one can assume that the narrator is a young child with a skewed view on life due to their young age. By indoctrinating youth with the idea that there can only be one ideal house for everyone it is making it more difficult for the future generations to find happiness if they are also wanting something that is difficult to achieve.…

I agree and believe with all my heart and soul in this quote by Benjamin Franklin. A house becomes a home as you live in it and begin to add your own personal touch. It becomes a home when you begin making memories and add life to it. Although a home is not always a safe haven for people, this reminds us that life without a safe and nurturing home can have crucial ramifications for health and well-being. A home should be a place where your family and loved ones can help you make sense of life when life becomes chaotic and complicated. A place where you know your troubles are swept away. “A home is where the heart is!”…
