Executive summary
TOMS Shoes(TM) was found in 2006, the founder Tom Mycoskie aimed that for every single pair of shoes the company sells, they give away one pair of free shoes to the child that needed(Armstrong and Kolter,2011). This concept is highly suited the current marketing environment, it built a strong market position by matched their customers view of self to their brand image. These strength has lead to the company's success in the shoe industry. However weakness of the company are, the company only uses the power of mouth, and refuses to advertising previously. On top of that,the fabric shoes they made is mainly focuses on the colleague students and teenagers(Schectman,2010). Opportunity for the company might be to expand their market overseas in order to achieve a larger economic scale, it should also design a marketing strategy that fit specificity to the brand, so that other shoes company focus on the same market segment won't threat the growth of TM.

However as they continue to operate, they find themselves getting pushed back by their number one competitor, Crocs. By mid-2007, Crocs sales were 33 times the sales of Holey Soles. Holey Soles has a revenue target of $40 million by 2009, and to achieve this target, they will need to focus on the issues surrounding their company and hindering its growth. We have decided that the core issue surround the company is how to reach the goal of $40 million. They need to address the possible alternatives of either expanding into other products besides footwear, implementing a more aggressive marketing strategy, changing their 2-year goals completely, or maintaining the status quo. These alternatives will depend on the assessment of the time frame, cost, and current and potential competition. Upon analyzing all situations and alternatives, we have decided that the best solution for Holey Soles would be to expand the company by creating other product lines made form their trademarked technology. Only through this method will they be able to generate enough revenue to meet their $40 million goal.…

    Almost since the foundation of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America in 1912, cookie sales have played a major role in supporting the Girl Scouts organization at the council and troop levels. By now, cookie sales have grown into a major moneymaking operation, bringing in over $714 million per year. Recent years, however, have seen cookie sales lagging with nearly six years of year-over-year declines of about 1 percent each until the trend reversed last year. The recent economic downturn hasn’t helped matters either. After a restructuring of its operations in 2004, the Girl Scouts have made several changes to the program that they hope will help spark sales and create cost saving opportunities. This year, Girl Scout troops will be selling cookie boxes at $4 even, up from the $3.50 price tag mandated in 2006. Before that, local councils were allowed to set their own prices, resulting in price wars as some troops attempted to undercut each other to increase sales. Portions on some cookie varieties have been reduced by one ounce per box, and other cookie varieties will use plastic packaging instead of more expensive cardboard. The Girl Scouts will also be asking certain troops to reduce their cookie lineups to just six varieties. The six top-selling cookies—Thin Mints, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, Samoas, Lemon Chalet Cremes, and Tagalongs—account for about 77 percent of cookie sales, and many attempts to create cookies geared toward specific markets have not fared well in recent years. The Dulce de Leche cookies, based on classic Latin American treats, were designed to appeal to Hispanic markets as part of the Girl Scouts’ broader diversity initiatives. However, sales figures did not seem to indicate any particular market preference for that variety.
