There are time I find myself think of my local economy, and ways to improve it. While this task seem overwhelming for just a single individual, I ask myself questions like; does the increasing concern with same sex marriages have any correlation of why the economy has risen in the states that have legalized it? Or even has the economy in other local states suffered due to the fact that same sex marriages are not legal to their residents? This leads to the concerns of the United States of America and coming to the firm realization that our nations’ economy is the largest concern that we as citizens do have. With the majority of the states getting past the idiotic ways of the past leading to a bright future accepting the views of the pubic and legalizing same sex marriages. While the United States of America continues to evolve into the next generation, we are faced with many issues. A major concern is our economy is the depression it is in, is the concept of same sex unions an answer for this question. Since over half of the states have legalized same sex unions you have seen some economic growth in those states. Does the acceptance of the same sex union help increase the economy in those states. In several instances people go back and forth about same sex marriages. Does a same sex marriage help the economy or do they hinder it? This argument has been going on for a couple decades. While some of the pro same sex marriages like Forbes “The Gay-Marriage Windfall: $16.8 Billion” (Lagorce, 2004), in this article they speak about how same sex marriages are a windfall for the legalized states. With the legalized states reaping all of the benefits of the large sums of money that the same sex marriages are forking out to get hitched in the states that legalize it boosting the economy in those states. With the wedding business booming like crazy due to the fact that same sex unions have been legalized more and more couples have been wed in unions going forward. While this is only a matter of time until it is legal in all of the states. But, until then each of these states are making the best of why they accept the same sex marriages in their local economy. [According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Census 2000, there were 54.5 million married heterosexual couples living together and 4.9 million unmarried heterosexual couples living together. We deduce from these numbers that 92% (54.5 million out of 59.4 million) of heterosexual couples living together are married.] (Lagorce, 2004) in this quote shows the number of same sex marriages that can take place making the best for the individual states, while people travel, to those states where it is legal in that state and not there residing state, forcing them to boost the economy of another local state. While on the opposing side, “Ruling allows same-sex marriages for Florida Keys” (AP, 2014) has banned the union of same sex marriages. With the community being steadfast in their decision to ban the same sex marriages, for the reasons they are comfortable with their past. While many other sources have proven that they are good for the economy and will boost it making each state inhabited by the same sex marriage couples honoring their benefits and every other aspect making the quality of living in the local environment that much better. Even though this state has legalized it for same sex couples to adopt children it is still illegal for them to be married in those states.” During a recent hearing on a related Florida case in Miami-Dade County, attorneys for gay couples noted that, after a long legal fight, the state finally allowed them to adopt children but refused to recognize them as married” (AP, 2014). With their old fashion ways makes them more inclined to follow the unaccepted trends of the United States of America. This state has even taken it as far as to bring the constitution in on this "That inequality stigmatizes the couples and their children as second-class citizens," attorney Sylvia Walbolt said. "Same-sex marriages are completely beneficial. They are entitled to the full protection of the Constitution." (AP, 2014). So with the state against what they know the only one side of their cause and believe it without getting all of the fact that are called for. While each state has its own local government, capable of making their own decisions. They need to take all the knowledge they have to make their decisions for their population, even if it accepting the greater good of the state, and neglecting the times of the ole’ each side has its own virtues and ways to handle the objections making the best choice for the population and not just the few. With the overall impact of same sex marriages on the economy, it effects many different statistics making each statistic a valuable asset. While the statistic that carries the most weight in perspective of the economy is the overall cost or dollar valuable. Same sex marriages are important to the believers and the ones that support them even friends and family, finically supporting the union. Another valuable aspect of the economy that is held in such high standards are the insurance or benefits of the individual or couples. With the general concepts of this economic break down it could be easy to dissect the data to find out if the states that have legalized same sex marriages it increases the economy. The major aspect of any economy is the finical point of view, where is the increase in the spending due to same sex unions. As stated in the “Budget Notes: Love Counts” (William C. Thompson, 2007) they take into consideration and describe the average costs of same sex marriages, and what that entitles in smallest to largest aspect making it clear that the average cost of each marriage is. With every aspect encompassed the average cost is” $109,767” (William C. Thompson, 2007) this number consist not only of the overall cost of the wedding but the excess spending of guests in the state of New York even including out of state guest. And With the state making the average same sex marriage costing such large sums of money and the larger the population the “Law of large numbers” (britannica, 2014) does play a very important role as to how many in state same sex residents get married. While with a larger population you will have a larger number of same sex marriages, the state of New York estimates they will have 50,000 same sex marriages annually. And with the volume stating numbers that high they are on track to make billions of dollars yearly. With this point of view they economy of the state of New York will become a fair state to reside in due to the lower taxes on cost of living with the money coming from alternate revenue streams. With the next important aspect of the economy that is held in such large standards are the benefits given to same sex married couples. While benefits are such a broad topic the important piece here are the healthcare benefits. While each couple within the state of New York benefits are such an important things, which could even tax you at a higher rate if not carried. The number that is a true realization of what it means to offer same sex marriages the benefits you offer to the standard couples could save the state of New York “$37,000,000” (William C. Thompson, 2007). Some may not realize that our spending on taxes and towards state benefits costs the residents more and more money every year. While you eliminate the overall cost for some of the resident’s not carrying insurance while they take the supplemental medicare or SSI, or FamilyPlus. Is will help improve the economic growth of the state due to the fact they can invest those fund to fields that need additional funds instead of letting them suffer with insufficient funds to provide the same respect to the other statistics as the benefits. Finally the aspect that is a straight increase into the economic growth is the increase in demand that same sex marriages has of the elected or government based fees for such things as court cost, marriage certificate costs, fees for the name change and what other place the government finds to charge us for every possible instance. The government has several plans in place for the same sex marriages and has the cost versus net gain already in place “program by current and future non-Postal Service retirees choosing to cover same-sex domestic partners. As a result, direct spending would increase by $348 million from 2011 to 2019”. (U.S. Government, 2009).While the government is the primary beneficiary in every scenario that is offers us the solution for the states that do not offer same sex marriages. While the same sex marriages are becoming more and more common some states still do not offer the acceptance that New York has to offer. And yes, New York is a prime example of why all the states in the United States of America should legalize same sex marriages. After conducting loads of research you begin to accept the truths of the matter that the states that have legalized same sex marriages have a better economy, as well benefit growth as well such as medical benefits, lower taxes due to the increased economic growth and finally a better quality of living in those states. With the views of the olden ways that need to be revised from time to time, let’s hope that this paper brings to the realization that everything will change always and we will have to accept it to grow and move on. With each state being able to make its own decisions I hope that they can accept these facts to help its own residents to improve the quality of living and economic growth. So finally after addressing a concern of the United States of America I hope that the people who make the decision grow in their own actions.
