Chapter 2
Short Answers 1. What are the advantages of using a planner? How would it help you manage you school commitments?
The advantages of you using a planner will keep track of events and commitments, schedule goal-related tasks and rank task according to priorities. This will help you manage you school commitments by not becoming a procrastinator. You follow your weekly schedule and by the time you know it everything can be completed and you will have much free time to spare. It can lead you quicker to your goals, help with reminder events and keep you motivated. 2. Why is downtime important in your schedule?

Downtime is important in your schedule because everyone needs that in their life. It will refresh you and improve your productivity when you get back on task. Being busy all day can cause stress, therefore all you need is an hour or more to just breathe and relax. Be sure to squeeze a little downtime into your schedule that way you can accomplish all your tasks with no problem and worry free.

3. Why do people procrastinate? Give at least three reasons.

It’s human, and common for busy students, to leave difficult tasks until later. Procrastination can develop into a habit that causes serious problems. The first reason in why people procrastinate is because of perfection. In other words the perfectionist procrastinator thinks that not trying is better than an attempt that falls short or perfection. Another reason people procrastinate is the fear of limitations, for example people try to avoid the truth about what he or she can achieve. Last is being unsure of the next step. When a procrastinator is unsure of the next step he or she may get stuck and does not know what to do next, sometimes it just seems easier to procrastinate on that task rather than jump into the next level.

Procrastination is one of the biggest reasons that a student does not have good academic success. Procrastination is defined as putting a certain task off until a certain deadline arrives. Such as, if a student has to have a report or speech done by a certain date and has known for three weeks but delays in getting it done until the day before it is due. Doing this usually results in a bad grade for that paper, which could bring the student’s overall grade down to not passing. In my own experience with this problem, I have found it is easier to just do the work after you find out it is due rather than waiting until the last day. Such as, I had a buddy in high school that would hear about the assignment and would delay in getting it done till the day it was due. Yet, he would complain that he never had enough time to do the work required to complete the assignment.…
