Time Management and Discipline
THE IMPORTANCE OF TIME MANAGEMENT AND DISCIPLINE
I am writing this essay due to the fact that I failed to show up on time to accountability formation at 0630 on 31July2012. I was informed the day prior of where my place of duty was and when I was suppose the be there. I knew that I had to be at troop no later than 0615 in summer IPFU for PT. I am aware that I agreed to the initial counseling that I was expected to be fifteen minutes prior to any formation. I failed the standards that were given to me by my first line. I am fully aware that time management is basic soldiering task. Failure of this basic soldiering task shows incompetence in discipline. This also shows to others in our troop that my leadership is not keeping accountability of their soldiers. This is not their fault, but mine. My lack of discipline shows weakness and our troop can only be as strong as our weakest link. Not to say that I am in anyways the weakest link of our troop but I showed weakness on 31July2012.
As a Specialist I am expected to act like one. Being a Specialist has certain responsibilities and showing failure of a basic soldiering task is unacceptable. I am suppose to be the example for others lower enlisted to follow. If I am not consistently being that example for the new guys or even some the seasoned Private First Class’s in our platoon than I am not efficiently doing my job. I understand my task and will at all times show my peers and subordinates alike what the army standard is and how to execute vigilantly. So I will be writing about the two basic soldiering task that I faltered on. * Time Management
"Things that matter the most should never be at the mercy of thing that matter the least". We, as human beings, let this happen much too often. Many of us waste our time on things that are neither important nor necessary, instead of using that time for thing of that is significant. Time management is not only how to get more out of your time, but really

This Plan of action is ambiguous and confusing. From the oral statements that were made from you I believe you wish for me to write a 1500 word essay on the (Importance of Accountability in the army) i.e.: appropriate place of duty, proper place and proper time. I Pride myself on being a soldier that is accountable for his actions at all times. The reason for this essay is, I did not follow proper orders and was not at my correct place of duty for work call, due to miscommunication through higher, but there is still no excuse for me to be undisciplined and not informing my chain. A soldier should be at right place and right time as soldier. There are many reasons why you should be at your place of duty at the right time as a soldier. The most important reason being the soldier’s safety and accountability. That’s why it’s implemented by the NCO's appointed over them. NCO’s tells you that you need to be at a location, on time; therefore you need to be there. Your NCO is only trying to help you. NCO’s want what is best for soldier’s. This shows structure in soldiers in and the soldiers' unit. As soldiers there are daily missions that call for them to be at the right place and right time. It's not a good look on a soldier when they can’t do a simple task such right place and right time. This actually shows that the soldier can’t be depended on when they are needed. This hinders a soldier when they are being look at for any promotions or special awards. As a soldier you want to make a great impression on leaders and not being able to make it on time is not acceptable. It would make things run much smoother when solders are at the appropriate place of duty on time all the time. If no one is at the right place and right time it sets the mission back.…

The definition of accountability comes from the state of being accountable; liability to be called on to render an account; the obligation to bear the consequences for failure to perform as expected; accountableness. The importance of being on time accounted for is because lets say that you do not come back to formation after you go out on a convoy then they know that you are missing. If you do not show up and you do not respond on the radio there is going to possibly be a search team for you. If they do send a search team for then that puts that entire team at risk while looking for you. Point of accountability formation is to make sure all of your soldiers are there and that they are all accounted for. If one person is not accounted for then the entire formation does not leave. It is not just the fact that everyone is accounted for it is part of your military duty to be at formation and at movement. If you do not make it to formation or movement it is punishable by UCMJ. It could be the end of your carrer. Not only will it ruin everything that you have gone through and wasted your time but you are also letting your buddies down and if you can not show up to formation what makes you think that they can trust you in being there in the time of need. If you can not be there then what is your team going to think when they hear over the radio that you are on the way and you are the only one that can help them. They are going to be like what that is the only person we have well we are al good as dead. Accountablility does not ebd in the army life it also goes into civilian world. When you have a job in the civilian world they are looking for someone that be on time and do the job but the second that you are not on time your accountabliity starts to go down the drain.…

At a basic level, every soldier has the capability of exercising the core fundamentals a leader should possess. The United States Military, specifically the Army, is a most unique profession as it is comprised of individuals from different cultures, demographics, and experiences. That combined with the military occupational specialties a soldier is designated makes every individual an expert on any given topic or situation at different levels. That soldier, exercising their ability by position, assumed role or virtue, can lead fellow soldiers to success. That soldier’s success in applying their leadership style is sorely based on how they apply those diversities to encompass the total soldier concept.…

The main reason for this essay is because I did not follow standard operating procedure and was not at the correct place of duty for accountability of my person while on quarters as prescribed by my doctor. Regardless of my reasons for absence, there is no excuse as to why I was not in my barracks room as I had been ordered to be or at a minimum give a courtesy call to my chain of command if I needed to go anywhere for any reason. I want to be an excellent soldier and I want to excel in the military, but in order to be such a soldier I need to be more responsible for my actions. I feel that, being a new soldier in this unit, I have some wonderful examples from my superiors and soldiers who have been here longer and I should follow their example more closely. The inability to be where I am supposed to be when I am supposed to be there is a fault that has neither the place nor time for existence within our ranks in the army. However, in order for me to effectively and efficiently continue my rigorous journey up the long road of leadership and respect in the army, I need to be able to be relied on for anything that is required of me from the most simple and mundane to the most demanding tasks. In order to accomplish this, there are a few step I must put in place first. The first step I need to put into place is making sure I am always accounted for no matter where I might be which in turn means I am on time for place of duty at least ten minutes prior to the specified time as put out by my leadership. If I am unable to make it to the place of duty on time, I, at the very least owe it to my team leader and squad leader to call them or send them a text message explaining my absence and accepting the consequences of any of my actions regardless of my intentions. Even though my problem was not that I was late to any event or formation, I feel that this is just as important a subject as any to talk about because if a soldier is not at his or her place of duty at the…

You need to manage time effectively if you 're going to be successful. Better time management skills can improve your grades, help you keep stress in check, and help you be competitive in the career you undertake following your college or university education. Time management systems often fail because they the expectations of them are too unrealistic. Some people don 't start a time management system until they 're already falling behind in their work. They take on time management as a way of catching up. They try to cram all of their work into a period of time that is too short. The people who are trying to follow crammed schedules often fall way behind their intended pace and desert the plan altogether, which results in more time trouble.…
