How profound must it have been for the two psychiatrists to stmble upon the first recorded case of multiple personality disorder (MPD). This discovery opened the eyes of people all around the world and was arguably the reason for the massive rise in diagnoses for MPD. The movie is based on a true story of a woman named Chris Costner Sizemore, in the movie she is referred to as Eve White along with her two other personalities Eve black and Jane. The movie illustrates how two psychiatrists, Corbett H. Thigpen and Hervey M. Cleckley, diagnose Eve white and her multiple personalities.

The movie begins with the husband of Eve and herself at Dr. luthers office which her new psychiatrists who she was refereed to by her original doctor. He begins by asking her why she is there and she tells him. She says that she thinks she has a case of amnesia and that she has headaches before it all happens. She claims that she cannot remember anything that happens to her when she gets these “spells”. ( this is what she calls the MPD before she finds out what it really is) Dr. luther asked her what she meant by speels and she claims that she first gets a splitting headache and then she becomes conscious at a later time with no recollection of where she was or what she did between the headache and that point. The husband said that when she would have these spell that he did not notice much of a difference. The doctor sends them on their way and tells eve to come back every few weeks. Her does not get the sever headeaches as much and she doesn’t have any more blackouts.

About a year later she gets another black out and the husband comes home to find out that eve has purchased dresses that she claims she never bought. For this movie assignment I decided to watch the movie “Antwone Fisher”. The movie is based on a true story about how Antwone, a young navy man, was forced to see a psychiatrist due to a fight he had with a crewmember. During the course of his treatment many things are discovered about his past. The psychiatrist named Jerome Davenport, a commander played by Denzel Washington, began the sessions by having a stern, but understanding appearance. Using his rank, his looks and his words, he portrays many different roles. During the first session, the atmosphere is a little tense and awkward. They both knew that he [Antwone] did not want to be there and was only there because he was forced to…

The theme of double and false identities is highlighted strongly on the train scene between Eve and Roger. After a passionate kiss, the camera closes in on Eve's face looking over Roger's shoulder. Her expression on her face conveys to the audience that she is troubled by her apparent "act" and that there is more to her character then we know. The audience then finds out that indeed she is playing another role when she sends the letter to Vandamm asking what to do with Roger in the morning. Another scene where the theme is reflected is in the scene at the airport between Roger and the American intelligence agent when Roger finds out the…

You know, I read in a book once that women desire attention. Even the Devil knew that and so he chose to go to naked Eve to tempt her, since he had just one chance. He knew if He had gone to naked Adam, we would still be in the garden and Adam would still be the only one who has tasted the forbidden fruit. Perhaps, Naked Eve would notice herself with the amazing figures God had given to her and it was impossible for Adam to notice when his eyes where not yet opened. She opened his eyes... so he could notice her. Thanks to Peter Cheyney for pointing that out in his book, Poison Ivy.…

The clash between good and evil has been a prominent theme in literature. The Bible presents the conflict between good and evil in the story of Adam and Eve. Many authors use the scene in the Bible in which the snake taunts and tempts Adam and Eve to take a bite of the apple of knowledge to demonstrate the frailty of humankind. John Gardner provides these same biblical allusions of good and evil in his novel, Grendel.…

Through his narrator in East of Eden, John Steinbeck says that there is only "one story in the world", that of good and evil (Steinbeck 412). The original story of good and evil can be traced back to the biblical tale of Cain and Abel, from which Steinbeck picked his title and formed many central characters around. In his novel East of Eden, John Steinbeck explores the constant collision between good and evil and forms a parallel between his story and that of Cain and Abel.…
