Three Century Women
The story “Three Century Woman” is about a woman who has lived in three centuries and is now at her old folks home being interviewed by the TV. I think that the round character in this story Meghan and the flat character is Grandma Breckenridge .

In the book, ‘Three Century Woman”, Meghan is considered a round character. I know this because she changes during the story. In the beginning of the story she said “can’t I just stay in the car and do my homework?” (page 10) instead of walking inside to see her great grandma. Towards the end of the book her character did change. She kissed her on the cheek and said that she will come back to visit her again. This tells me that she had changed a lot during the course of the book. At first she wasn’t too thrilled about seeing her great grandma, but by the end she was very open and positive about it .The story “Three Century Woman” is about a woman who has lived in three centuries and is now at her old folks home being interviewed by the TV. For example, “pride, intellectualism, [and] materialism” are all traits represented in characters in order to make a point. In one of O’Connor’s well-known stories, “A Good Man Is Hard to Find”, a grandma is smug and self-complacent. In “Revelation”, Mrs. Turpin is very judgmental of other people, which is hypocritical of a “church-going woman” (Michael). This shows that Mrs. Turpin is ignorant in her beliefs because everyone is equal in God’s eyes. By revealing certain traits and aspects in her characters, Flannery O’Connor uses this as a mean to attack. By showing what happens to her characters, O’Connor shows what is wrong with these aspects and how her characters are afflicted by them. For example, Mrs. Turpin is hit in the face with a book and an unnamed grandmother is killed by a…

In “Recitatif,” Roberta was considered a round character because she continually switches up her attitude towards Twyla like she had never in her life met Twyla before. Twyla said, “She lit a cigarette off the one she’d just finished and said, We’re on our way to the coast. He’s got an appointment with Hendrix.” (Morrison 7) This happened when Twyla met Roberta in Howard Johnson’s. Roberta acted like she had never met Twyla before. As time had gone by, they came in contact with each other in a store when Twyla was waiting in the check-out line. Roberta had called out her name. This time, Roberta had on an expression of remembrance. This is showing her change in character. Also in the short story “Winter Dreams,” Dexter Green was also a round character because in the beginning of the story, when he was still a middle class guy, he was less stressed out about fitting in into the economic class of Judy Jones. However, as he had met Judy Jones, he then became worried about acquiring wealth and becoming that perfect guy. This put a lot of stress on his shoulder because now he has to be more concentrated on pleasing Judy, and in the end, his plans did not turn out as he has hoped for. This shows how Dexter’s character…

I am writing about the indirect characterization of “mom” in The Three Century Woman by Richard Peck. “Mom” is the mother of the speaker. One example of indirect characterization is when she is talking to Aunt Gloria she is really chatty, also the speaker states that she is always on her phone. This shows us that she is talkative. The passage states that she and Aunt Gloria are bickering and in other instances they are arguing. This shows us she is opinionated. The speaker asks to stay in the car but mom refuses. This shows us that she is caring of her grandma making her daughter visit.…

In A Wrinkle in Time, Meg’s level of self-control changes significantly. Before the change, Meg’s self-control was very low as she would punch people at the smallest taunt. For example, Meg attacked a boy at her school for insulting her brother. In fact, she would let all her common sense escape her mind, and she would just use her instincts. After the change, she would keep her anger to herself, though she would still feel it. For instance, when she felt anger towards her dad for not allowing her to save her brother, she did not act on her feelings. Instead, she gathered support from Aunt Beast, Mrs.Who, Mrs.Which, Mrs.Whatsit.…
