This I Believe
Kaila Hammonds Confidence is key I believe in confidence. Being confident in others and myself. I believe confidence can help you achieve greater things. If I am confident in myself, others will be confident in me as well. Confidence can either be gained or lost. Being confident with myself and others effects things I do daily such as giving presentations or talking to other people. If I wasn’t as confident as I am now, doing easy tasks such as those would be difficult. Growing up, things like job interviews would be hard to accomplish at my best if I wasn’t confident enough to do it. I believe in confidence because for most of my life I’ve strived to gain confidence in myself. I created an addicting habit of being obsessed with appearances and acceptance from others. My obsession of trying to impress people looks wise has come with an unfortunate cost; literally. I've gone to great lengths to astound my peers physically and let that hinder my confidence in what I say and do. I've put all of my focus in presenting myself with outer beauty in an attempt to gain confidence and cover my fear of being rejected socially. The beginning of this year, it really hit me, that sooner or later I would be taken out of my so called “comfort zone” and have to face the real world. I realized that while being caught up in a world of trying to strike my peers appearance wise, I forgot to focus on what I know is more important and satisfy myself. Just the thought of knowing this year I would have to do many presentations such as this one, scared me. My confidence level dropped at the thought of being rejected by people I’d have to be around for quite a while. Self confidence is the difference between feeling unstoppable and feeling scared out of belief. My perception of myself has an enormous impact on how others perceive me.
