In order to live day by day, I simply follow five core values that make me the person I am today. The five core values that I live by are: family, education, honesty, responsibility, and open-minded. Core values are important to live by because they are what makes a person and it is important to see someone’s characteristics of what they value. According to dictionary.com, the definition of value is “the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something” (dictionary.com, 2016). Society will shape you into the person you are. From birth, you are already part of a society known as your family. This small society will grow as you grow and each person’s society will be unique. Having influences and people you look up to like parents and teachers at a young age will shape and cause your views to change. Since at birth you have no set values and morals, the people who raise you will pass theirs onto you. An example from the novel Girl with a Pearl Earring1 would be the main character Griet. She was shaped by her parents to have their views on the world. She was taught to have faith in the Protestant religion, so when she moves to Oude Langendijck, a Catholic society, little things like Catholic paintings disturb her (Pg. 8). She was so used to her family’s beliefs that a small change such as paintings on the wall would bother her to the point where she was scared to look at them (Pg.…

It is certainly true that no car can move in a specific direction without a steering wheel and no ship can be steadfast without a rudder. Even though a rudder may seem to be a very small and insignificant instrument or device in comparison to the body of a ship, it is the rudder that gives direction to the ship. In the same way, A Political Party cannot move in a certain direction without the existence of its ideologies. An ideology is a set of aims and ideas that directs one’s goals, expectations, and actions. Hence, A political party’s ideology is that set of aims and beliefs that direct the party towards its goals. The main purpose behind an ideology is to offer change in society, and adherence to a set of ideals where conformity already exists, through a normative thought process. Many political parties base their political action and election program on an ideology. A political ideology can also be seen as the best form of governance or the best form of economic system held by a dominant class in a society and proposed to all members of this society. Political ideology has two dimensions: Goals: How society should function or be organized. Methods: The most appropriate way to achieve this goal. Examples of political ideologies that have been exhibited so far include: Anarchism, Conservatism, Environmentalism, Feminism, Liberalism, Nationalism, Religion and Socialism.…

One may ask, “What is knowledge?” I understand Knowledge to be the intellectual ability of being able to understand the events in the world based on principles learn from one’s experiences. Once Knowledge is truly gained, can it be lost? I believe that if one is truly knowledgeable about something it is rather impossible that such knowledge can merely vaporize into thin air. Many people claim that they have indeed “lost knowledge”but sadly all they lost was information they memorized. Conversely, knowledge involves the careful observation of events, reasoning as to how and why these observations occur, and also learning through experiencing. Furthermore, I have come to recognize the eternal quality of knowledge based on biological facts, and also during my own daily experiences.…
