In partial fulfillment of the requirements in Social Studies VII

Torres, Iziah Andrei D. VII- Galilei

Abstract
This study proposes to evaluate public attitudes toward poverty, attributions for poverty, and support for public programs and policies aimed at eliminating poverty. It will examine public perception, differences in attitudes about the causes of poverty, and support for programs and policies across key demographic groups, including race, income level, and political voting preference.

Chapter 1: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

Poverty and inequality in the Philippines remains a challenge. In the past four decades, the proportion of households living below the official poverty line has declined slowly and unevenly and poverty reduction has been much slow.

Economic growth has gone through boom and bust cycles, and recent episodes of moderate economic expansion have had limited impact on the poor. Great inequality across income brackets, regions, and sectors, as well as unmanaged population growth, are considered some of the key factors constraining poverty reduction efforts.

1.2 Statement of the problem

1. Why Philippines is drowning in poverty?

2. What are the areas in the Philippines who has the highest Poverty Rate?

3. What are the different difficulties face by the Filipinos that lead to poverty?

4. What can we do to escape or somehow eliminate poverty?

5. What are the measures done by the government to solve poverty in the Philippines ?

There is something almost quixotic about President Lyndon B. Johnson’s declaration forty years ago of the proverbial “War on Poverty”; a battle cry against an intangible phenomenon that has virtually no end so long as the Earth turns. Poverty is an ongoing challenge in the United States but becomes all the more apparent in light of the significant income gaps between wealthy 1% and millions who currently live below the poverty line. Poverty continues and will continue to be a problem in our society for a multitude of reasons. The primary reason being that there are multiple causes for poverty, ranging from the free nature of free markets, structural features in the…

Poverty has become a worldwide epidemic. It affects people of various ages, races, sex, and background. The causes are of many and the antidote seemingly impossible. Poverty has been of concern for many decades within the United States and other countries. There have been numerous attempts to resolve the issue with very little, if any, resolution. In the United States, it seems that the majority of people work very hard, but despite these efforts cannot seem to get ahead financially. Given this day and age, poverty should be nearly obsolete with the resources provided to the people within the United States. It is essential that better legislation and programs are established to decrease the enormous gaps in income inequality among people.…

Farming is the term used to describe the practice of agriculture, the activity or business of growing crops and raising livestock. Farming can be either subsistent or commercial. Subsistence farming is the type of farming in which most of the produce reared is consumed by the farmer only. Subsistence farming is a way of life devoted for the provision of food for one’s home or community. Some crops grown on subsistence farms are yams, corn, sweet potatoes, watermelons, bananas, okras and much more. On the other hand, Commercial farming is where the farmer grows crops solely for the purpose of sale with a large demand. According to Neil E. Sealey, Commercial farming is essentially the farming of a product for sale, and food is not always the thing produced: it may be a fiber such as cotton, or an animal product like wool. Commercial farms are also known as plantations. An example of this kind of farm is the large citrus farms of Abaco.…
