Theory Practice In Nursing
Theory and practice are intertwined, with theory a clearer understanding is developed and guides one practice. An APN who combines theory and practice is able to represent the nursing discipline eloquently, communicate easily with patients, physicians, other disciplines, and solve practice problems (Karnick, 2011; McEwen & Wills, 2014). Although, theories influence patient care and outcomes there is a theory practice gap perception among the nursing profession. Reasons for this practice gap as specified by McEwen and Wills (2014)
