Theme Song By Marvin Sapp Essay
My Theme Song “Never would have made it” by Marvin Sapp is my theme song. If it had not been for the Lord, who was on my side I would have not made it to where I am at today in my life’s journey. Peer pressure, losing friends, and getting closer to God has been a huge portion of my senior year. “Peer pressure is the influence from members of one’s peer group,” according to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary. I would blame others for the decisions and mistakes that I chosen to make. Although I have tried and did certain things that I should have never done, most of the time I was pressured by my peers to do them. I convinced myself that I was not strong enough to say no. After many negative results of trying to do the things everyone else was doing, I not only began to let myself down but I also began to let my parents and my grandma down. I knew it was time for change, so I did exactly that. Like the song says, “I am stronger, I’m wiser, I’m better much better. When I look back over all he brought me through, I realize I made it because I had you to hold on too.” God helped me to stand on my own two feet. …show more content…
Everyone who is in my life are meant to be in my journey, but not all of them are meant to stay until the end. People that I use to call my friends are no longer my friends. I have always been told that I will be lonely sometimes, but to trust the Lord because he will provide me with enough confront and security to last me a lifetime. I believe that one day God will send me friends that will not only support me, but push me into my destiny, and be that shoulder to lean on when I need one. It is common to lose the ones you call your friends once entering into adulthood. I have been taught that people, places, and things are going to change in life, but we must learn to embrace change, because a part of growing up is growing

Everyone knows about the negative affects of peer pressure. However, peer pressure can be positive; it is also not as scary as some may believe. "Studies show that, almost always, peer influence is weaker than adults believe" (Black, 2002). Adults tend to underestimate middle school children and their ability to make decisions on their own. When a child commits a wrongdoing, parents automatically want to blame peer influence. Yet research has shown that young adolescents are not necessarily drawn into certain behaviors by peer pressure, rather they decide to be more like their peers on their…

Group pressure is a phenomenon in which pushes to make a wrong decision, destroy life, and follow the rules. First of all, being in a group could be caused of making a wrong decision. For example, my friend’s family pushed her to go medical school, because all of her family was doctors; however, she could not see blood. After she graduated from medical school, she changed her major and now she is a computer engineer. Second, destroying life is a con of group pressure. For example, my neighbor had so many addict friends, so she got addict for 10 years. She said when they were smoking, I felt good. After many months I felt I could not be happy without drug smell, so she destroyed her adolescence with using drugs. Finally, group pressure is guiding…

My theme song is "Getting Better" by The Beatles. The Beatles were an English rock band formed in 1960. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, members of The Beatles, became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential act of the rock era. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock and roll, the Beatles later experimented with several musical styles, ranging from pop ballads and Indian music to psychedelia and hard rock, often incorporating classical elements and unconventional recording techniques in innovative ways. In 1963 their popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania", and as the group's music grew in sophistication in subsequent years, led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney,…

In life many times we have to make hard decisions, but our moral opinion can be swayed by our peers in certain ways, which is known as peer pressure. Everyone is at some point in time whether intentional or not guilty of judging someone or something before getting all the information needed to make an opinion instead of an assumption. Common errors in judgment affect our ability to creatively think, which I know I am guilty of a couple of judgment errors. (Bethel, 2013, pg. 4) Projection which is blaming your faults on others because everyone does it is something I am personally guilty of doing. (Bethel, 2013, pg.4) I remember in high school getting caught skipping class, all I could say at the time was I did it because all my friends were doing it and I wanted to be with them, which is peer pressure at it finest but still not a valid excuse. I should have been honest about why I felt it was okay for me to skip that one class. I hated that class, and it was the…

If my life were a soundtrack, then on December 5, 2001, at 4:38 am, the first song would have started being recorded. I believe that my soundtrack shows a pretty wide variety of music because my life is made up of a bunch of crazy little elements. There are a few musical theater songs in my soundtrack because I believe that the songs from these productions have the best themes of all. The theme for my life soundtrack is to be yourself and it’s based on my second favorite quote by Dr. Seuss, “Why fit in when you were born to stand out!” So, let me entertain you with my life, because if it’s not interesting, it’s at least a little bit funny.…

Growing up, I have always placed an immense pressure upon myself. I saw how much my parents had sacrificed for me so that I could attend my Catholic private school. Perhaps their motives were to teach me the morals of Christian religion or to help a shy girl like me feel comfortable in a smaller school community. However, I saw an extensive motive behind their choice. They gave me a good education in the hopes that I could attend a good college, get a good job, and secure a good future. Most of my years in high school were spent with this singular goal in mind. I studied persistently out of fear that any mistakes would forfeit the chance at the opportunities I thought my parents wanted for me. In my world, things like compromise or teamwork did not exist. I felt that complete adherence to my plans was the only way to attain success. I avoided seeking out help because I felt it was solely my responsibility to fulfill my goals. I became a narrow-minded machine that only searched for…

    My Theme Song

A theme song that I chose for myself was Some Things Never Change by Foesum. Whenever I play this song I usually feel two emotions: joy and sadness. The sadness comes from not being able to see friends from high school as much as I was used to. The joy comes from knowing although we do not see each other as much we will always be there for each other. This song was a part of my life growing up in high school, all my friends listened to the same genre of music called G-Funk. Whenever this song comes up on my music player I remember the good times I had with my friends. The lyrics in the chorus go: Some things never change, ain't it strange? How things just remain the same. The meaning behind this chorus is that no matter where life takes you, there are some things about that will never change about yourself. My favorite verse comes in the beginning and it was by MNMsta and it goes:…

Before “Wrecking Ball,” like many other young, ten year old girls, Miley Cyrus was my idol! What made her my idol was that she was living her dream, and I wanted to do just the same. I would listen to all her music, watch her T.V. show “Hannah Montana”, and I even had a Hannah Montana birthday party. In 2009, she released a song that I listened to, but never understood the words. As a thirteen year old girl, I did not realize the impact her lyrics would have on me. My theme song is cliché, but it explains perfectly how my senior year has been. My theme song is “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus.…

Acting on my own motives is quite difficult for me because I believe that it is easier to follow what your peers tell you to do or to follow those who I have respect for and look up to. Getting emotionally and physically hurt from listening to the advice of others caused me to change the way I made decisions and gave me a new identity. I started to do what I thought was right for me instead of what others believed was right. The moment that helped me change the way I approached situations was the time that I hurt myself from power lifting at Bally’s Total Fitness, which was my local gym, listening to the advice that my friends (peers) gave me. I was in high school at that time that I picked up a pastime hobby of power lifting. Power lifting is when an individual tests his strengths by attempting to lift heavy weights with good form. This hobby of power lifting helped me relieve stress and gave me time to hang out with my friends doing something that we…

According to the Wikipedia “Peer group” article, “the term peer pressure is often used to describe instances where an individual feels indirectly pressured into changing his/her behavior to match that of his/ her peers”(“Peer group”). With this stated, it is not rare that today’s society instantly associates the term peer pressure in a negative context. Many would say that peer pressure is a negative method that draws and encourages teens to make potentially harmful and dangerous lifestyle choices. However, what many individuals may be unaware of is that they could be overlooking the positive impacts that peer pressure can contribute towards the development of teens. For instance, many people fail to see how the positive side of peer pressure…

Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.” This quote by James Dean is of great significance to me; it is what I live by. I feel it puts an optimistic outlook on my life. This quote can sum up my life so exactly because of my core beliefs. I believe in living for the moment and never letting any opportunity, no matter how big or small, pass me by. I believe in never regretting, because everything happens for a reason. I believe everyone deserves second, third, even fourth chances because, sometimes, people really do change. I never hold a grudge because I think life is too short for petty disagreements. I have been lucky enough to change over this past year into the person I am now, with these beliefs I have such passion for. I used to live my life around others, making sure they were happy and content before I worried about myself.…
