The Yellow Wallpaper Summary
For my article that I have chosen to read from Conrad Shumaker. As we all know Shumaker made an article about “The Yellow Wallpaper”, but in his own description. Shumaker named hid title “Too Terribly Good to Be Printed”: Charlotte Gilman’s “The Yellow Wallpaper”. The article was good as the title was mention. As I read the article, Shumaker makes the purpose very clearly. Shumaker’s purpose is about feminism, he gives out many reasons why he knew the article is based on feminist. Telling the role of a young women is well fine instead of giving the sadness about the main characters illness. The article contributes to the study of literature by explaining all reasons for the main idea. For the main idea as we should all be aware of is feminism and for that, Shumaker makes it seem to be so; here is why:

Whether it was social, political, historical, or cultural. I’m sure enough that much historical is within the article. It would be cultural and social. Cultural defines it by Shumaker giving examples toward the short story itself. He also had some comparison towards other authors work. What defines cultural is by Shumaker telling us that how back in the days men would not give privileges to their wife but for them to be only be house wife’s and to look pretty with a smile. As we read the article, Shumaker is wanting us to have already read Gilman’s short story of “The Yellow Wallpaper” because Shumaker talks about the feelings that the narrator was going through. Shumaker talked about how the narrator had no saying in any situation for her health or even the pleasure to feel comfortable within her staying in the house they found to help with her illness.
