the worst day ever
Parveen, you better get up right now or you will be late for school," my mother shouted from the kitchen. Lazily, I pulled the pillow off my face and looked at the clock. I got such a shock to see that the time was already 7.00a.m. I was indeed late. The bus will be here in 15 minutes time. I was definitely going to be late for school. I ran out of my room, grabbed my towel, and dashed into the bathroom. I had no time to bathe, so I just brushed my teeth and washed my face. I got into my uniform. Then I combed my hair. I opened my drawer hastily and pulled out the hair bream bottle. To my dismay, the cream had spilled out. My drawer was a mess. Oh no! Even my favourite ribbons were all smeared with the cream. Me and my butterfingers! I had to comb my hair without the hair cream today. I ran down to have my breakfast. It was ten past seven. Only five minutes to go. So, I took a few sips of milk. Then, I took my school bag from the chair. In a rush, I clumsily knocked down the glass of milk. Shatters of broken glass and milk were all over the carpet. My mum ran from the kitchen to see what had happened. She was so furious with me that she started lecturing me on my clumsiness. I had no time to clean up the mess, so I apologized and immediately went to front door to put on my shoes. Suddenly, I remembered that I left my lunch pack in the kitchen. Running back to kitchen, I almost cried when I heard the bus hooting outside. As fast as I could, I rushed to the door, but only to see that the bus had left. Well, at least I had a bicycle. I took it out from the shed and rode off to school on it. On the way, I suddenly felt that the road was bumpier then usual. I stopped and checked my tyres. What else could be worse? I had a flat tyre. Having no other options, I had to walk. I reached school around 7.45a.m. By that time, everyone was in class. After putting my bike under the bicycle shed, I went to my class. I knocked on the door. I explained

It started out like any other day. I got out of bed and scrambled to get out the door after I took an extra hour in the shower. I hopped into a seat next to my best friend Erin. We talked for the ten minute ride before finally arriving at school. I sat down in homeroom waiting for the bell to ring. Brrriinnngggg! I rushed to Mrs. Gregory’s room for Lit. Everything was fine until gym class. I had forgotten my assignment notebook in Mrs. Saphir’s room so I ran back upstairs to get it from under my chair. As I started to walk back towards the locker room I heard the bell ring… late! I walked into the locker room hoping Mrs. Dennis wouldn’t notice my tardiness, but my locker is right next to her office. I quickly filled out a minor for before…

My mom leaned down and kissed my cheek, she told me to have a good day and reassured me we would get ice cream together after school. As my mom started to walk away my tantrum began. I could not fathom being away from my mom for an entire day! Tears began stinging my eyes as my mom’s figure faded into the distance. My classmates’ figures began to blur as tears spewed down my face and into my open, screaming mouth. The taste of salt from my tears only fueled the fire that began burning inside of me and intensified my…

It had been a crazy morning as I ran all over my house trying to find my jacket and boots. My mom had been admitted into the hospital that morning for a massive headache and all I could think about was whether or not she would be okay. I took her to the emergency room that day before so going to class was the last thing on my mind. My father and sister had agreed to stay with her till I ended class so I was more at ease knowing she wouldn’t be alone. After running all over my house looking for my things I quickly gathered myself to make my train. I finally got to Penn Station with four minutes to spare. I quickly walked to where the rest of my class was as we waited for instructions to where we would…

By the time the first semester of fifth grade ended, my parents were well split up. I guess it was some way to put an end to the constant bickering and daily arguments. During this time period, me and my sister had bonded greatly over many hours of being locked up in the basement or shut up in our bedroom. Being the oldest child hadn’t felt as satisfying to me anymore as I had watched my sister struggle to understand the revisions our family was making, nor did I have as much clarity of the situation at the time. After what seemed like an eternity of battles, my sister and I came home from a visit at our aunt’s house to find my dad sitting on the couch with a suitcase awaiting our arrival. The suddenness set up the moment to be a blur. Even though neither of us knew what was actually happening, we had sensed all the hurt emotions rushing from my mom in the form of tears. Soon, Mandy and I added to the puddle being…

I anxiously wait for my teacher Mrs. Lane to pass back our spelling tests from Monday. It was now Tuesday so that meant that whoever did exceptionally well got to pick a sparkly pencil out of the jar that twinkled with glitter. I peeked over my Power Puff Girl glasses to try to sneak a peek just as I noticed Mrs. Burns run into the classroom frantically. She was the other second grade teacher, and she always seemed to be excited over the smallest of things. Except, this time she is frightened and her face has panic written all over it. The intercom suddenly boomed dramatically over us with the principal’s bewildered order that asked us to get underneath our desks and cover our heads. Mrs. Lane spoke with her voice wavering, she said that airplanes were crashing into buildings because there were bad people who wanted to hurt us. Salty tears hit my chapped lips as I worried about my big brother who was down the hall in his fifth grade classroom. I wanted to crawl and hide with him but as I took a hesitant step we were told to form a line by the door. We are now in the school’s basement which…

I woke up around seven thirty or eight o’clock on Sunday morning. My mom, younger brother, and I stayed at my mom’s boyfriend’s house the night before. The original plan was to get up around five in the morning to get to the ski resort earlier, but we ended up sleeping in a little bit longer than expected. My mom woke me up by tickling my nose with a feather. With aggravation, I hurried up and opened my eyes and yelled at her. When I woke up, my mom started laughing at me. My younger brother, Mason, took forever to get himself ready. Everyone was up and ready within the next hour.…

My friend Darlene kept her glance down at the floor while Francine moved over to a different chair as soon as I sat down. At first I did not seem to think anything of it, as it was the first day back to school. The first day back to school is always laid back and tiring. I opened my mouth but not a single word came out, I immediately thought something was wrong when Darlene disappeared to the bathroom without a single noise. Francine glared at me for what seems like hours, but I know to only be seconds. I concentrated on the white walls and how they drifted onto the ceiling. I could not bring myself to look Francine in the eyes at this moment. Whenever Darlene sat across from me, I finally looked up. Believing I was ready to hear the words from her mouth was an absolute lie to myself. Now, once and for all, I listened to the noises that were spilling out, but comprehending them was a different…

“Good morning to you too,” dad laughed, “your clothes look very nice. You look a ton like your mother. You have her purple eyes and her face…” I glared at him angrily,” Dad she is never coming back home. I don’t care if I look like her or not, she abandoned us. “I sipped my orange juice, and took a bite of toast. My dad looked a little upset. “Well are you ready for your first day of school?” He asked, trying to mask up his sadness. “No, why do I have to go to school? There are too many people, can’t you home school me like you use to?” I commented sourly. “Sorry Miyu, I can’t. You will be fine, I promise. Honestly this can help with your social issues as well.” I looked down at my food, and decided to just eat the toast. “I’ll see you when I get home, then, dad. “ I mumbled grabbing my backpack, and my lunch box. “I love you princess,” he hugged me, and I stomped out the…

By the time I got out of bed and into the bathroom to shower it had been 7 45 am, almost 8 am. I had an hour to get to my school. We lived ten minutes away from Devon shire elementary school in Des Plaines. By the time I was done and ready to leave the house it was 8 30 am. My dad had promised the day before that he would come to drop me off to my classroom in the morning. Just like he had promised, he walked with me to the school. I told him, “I don’t want to go to school, I don’t know English, and I don’t know anyone, I don’t want to go to school.” My dad didn’t reply to what I had said he just walked holding my hand. It was 8 45 am when we turned the corner and saw all the kids outside playing. As we walked closer to the crowd of students my dad saw someone he recognized and he told me to wait there for him to come back. I stood up like a statue- who can hear all children screaming, and who can see children waving to their…

One of the worst days in modern American history is September 11,2001. That day was a horrific day of events. On that day the leader of Al-Qaeda Osama Bin Laden ordered the attack on the Twin Towers in downtown Manhattan. This attack was the worst attack in history. When the towers came down it killed almost 3 thousand people. Ever since I was young I have always had a great deal of respect for our service men and women. I come from a military background. Both of my grandpas were in the military. When the attacks on 9/11/01 happened and I got older and came to understand more about what happened I became infuriated about it. I became infuriated that thousands of innocent people died at the hands of some gutless bastard who just wanted to kill Americans just because they were a American. Being an American is everything to me. It means that I have freedoms that other people are not fortunate enough to have. When something happens to my…

    Saddest Day of My Life

The saddest day of my life, was on July 1, 1999, the same year I graduated from Andrew Jackson Senior High School, Jacksonville, Florida. I was planning to attend a local Community College during the Fall Term to pursue my career as a Dental Hygienist, but a devastating yet tragedy occurred. On June 9, 1999, my fathered phoned me asking to meet me for lunch, because he had to speak with me in reference to a serious matter. I wasn’t sure what to think, when he insisted on meeting, but I knew it had to be important. After arriving for lunch, he them explained the reason for me being there. First, he stated he asked me there, because he was very ill and will be dying soon. After hearing that, I was uncertain of what to say, feel, do, or even expect from the news I had received. From knowing the type of man my father was, he was very stubborn, when it came to eating healthy exercising, and taking his med’s properly. It was about two weeks later, that my father’s health wasn’t getting any better, which caused me to become sadden, because I couldn’t heal him. It was then that I knew I needed to prepare my heart for what was to be expected. Finally, it was around 11:30p.m., that I received a phone call, from I-95 State Trooper, stating that they have found a John Doe, off the side of the road, who has suffered from a massive heart attack. It puzzled me how they found my picture, but I remembered that I gave him a photograph of me so I he will always have a picture close to his heart, which he placed in his wallet along with my number on the reverse side, the night he was found deceased. I then knew from that point on, that my life would never be the same. My mind knew it was to be expected, but my heart was feeling otherwise. The feeling was unexplainable; something I never knew could hurt so bad and affect me in a strong way. In conclusion, a bond between a father and a daughter could never be…

As I sat there, playing, the door suddenly banged open. My mom stood there anxiously with fear in her chocolaty eyes. I knew something tragic had occurred for she never came home early. She grabbed my forearms and pulled me up with a jolt and snatched a plastic bag from the corner and stuffed what little clothes and toys I had in it. My own brown eyes were filled with tears, but I didn’t let them fall. She dragged me along as she moved and on her way out, she shut the door with a thunderous bang. Who would have thought that that was the last day I would ever see that little one room garage house again.…
