Sex education has been a debatable topic over the past decade. Whether the government should get involved by requiring sex ed classes, or step back and let the parents handle it, is the question everyone is discussing. There are two schools of thought about the type of education your child is taught, Comprehensive Sexuality Education, or Abstinence-Until-Marriage programs. Both are very opposite ends of the spectrum, and it usually depends on the state or school district you were brought up in to determine which lesson is taught.…

On June 25, 2012, the Supreme Court ruled that juveniles who committed murder could not be sentenced to life in prison. A few justices believed life in prison without parole for a juvenile prevents consideration for their chronological age and its features. But four justices disagreed saying that heinous crimes committed by juveniles should be punished with a sentence of life in prison, or a 17-year-old would be released to society after he had gun down his fellow classmates and teachers. I disagree with the Supreme Court ruling. I believe that every juvenile who has committed a heinous crime should be sentenced to life in prison without parole. The victims of the crime would get the justice they deserve, they are at the age where they should know what they are doing, and brain development does not play a fact to juveniles committing heinous crimes .…

The selection of words used in hip hop had gain and lost many fans. According to the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution, individuals are free to express themselves. When individuals are expressing words that are hurtful and potentially dangerous to use in communities censorship should be in effect. The statements that are made in hip hop promote drug dealing, gender abuse and killing to make a point. Individuals should not be able to say these things and be rewarded with revenue.…

the past two decades. There have been many different arguments on the topic, however the question still remains as if it should be censored or it should not be censored. Before one can form an opinion on this, one must hear both sides of the argument. Some believe that music should be censored so all audiences can hear it without it containing any controversial lyrics. Others believe it should not be censored and musical artists should be able to speak, sing, rap, or rhyme freely without anyone censoring them.…

In the United States, there is an estimated 12 million crimes every year, which is more than any nation in the world. In the last twenty five years, it is reported that juveniles are involved in one quarter of all brutal crimes in America not including murder. Moreover in 2012 it was ruled for all juveniles who committed heinous crimes to be sentenced to life in prison with parole due to the eighth amendment. This issues has been fought from both sides for years and have both made tremendous amount of facts and validated on if juveniles should be tried as adults or not. After closely reading articles on both sides I personally have came to believe only the deserving should be offered to have a chance at parole and many other opportunities in rehabilitation if the…

Juveniles are considered juveniles and should be given juvenile punishment unless it's for something inhumane, such as murder. The United States of America has the highest teen murder rate out of every country. The reason is due to guns being easy to get, the amount of violence they see today, and the T.V. programs shown. The 2012 Supreme Court decision to abolish mandatory life in prison for juveniles who commit murder was not a just decision, because teens should know better. They're old enough to know murder is wrong. Our country should give teens the punishment they deserve for the crime they commit. Murder deserves a life sentence whether a juvenile or grown adult.…

Sex instruction is critical, however numerous amounts of students complete sex education classes with a mutilated perspective of sexuality and without a decent comprehension of contraception and safe-sex practices. Schools without sex education, leave children confused and often misguided. Students are left to learn through their parents about sex, who could, in turn, be misinformed themselves by never having taken a course in sexual education. Without sexual education classes, little is accomplished leaving a defective and contorted, one-sided point of view of safe sex such as abstinence. The lack of knowledge also can lead to an increase in teen pregnancy, and the spread of sexually transmitted disease, Sexual education should be taught to…

This may seem like a rather simple-minded question, but one of the questions that should I always be posed before any endeavor is, "why do it?" and "what do we hope to gain from it?" I am surprised how some schools don't teach about sex education. This is a very important education because not learning about human sexuality can effect teen's life. For example, they will less likely to go to college or finding a job since they are pregnant. Sex education in general is a primary source of motivation. Just consider the amount of time spent thinking and planning for sex, and let alone the time spent in sexual behavior itself. Sexual motivation does to some extent influence human behavior. Another reason for…

According to the First Amendment, artists should be protected by the freedom of speech which by law should protect the artist from any censorship. For example, if a rapper uses vulgar language in one of their songs and raps about fighting or killing their enemy, it doesn’t necessarily mean that whoever is listening will go out and commit a murder. If you’re an adult, you can’t blame a song or an artist for your actions. Whatever an artist says in their music isn’t mean’t to be taken verbatim, in most situations the lyrics are just for entertainment, nothing more. Most people that support the censorship of music are only supporting it for personal reasons. Most people are willing to give up their freedom of speech just because they don’t agree with 21 Savage’s views on religion and how he lived his life or how Lil Wayne chooses to be in a gang or smokes weed.…

Jessica Wilde stated, “All crimes committed by juveniles should and must be treated in the same regard, it’s not to punish heinous acts, then to provide justice to the families of the victims” (Teens Should). Some argue that children should be tried as adults because they know what they are doing. According to some studies, brain development is not complete until the mid-20s (Merrefield 3). Others believe that by not punishing juveniles to the full extent of the law, it is implied that they are above the law and receive special treatment (Should Juveniles be Tried as Adults? 3). On the other hand, holding a twelve year old to the same standards as a thirty year old when they lack the same mental development is wrong (Should Juveniles be Tried as Adults? 5). It is proven that the cognitive development of a child is not complete until they are in their early twenties (Should Juveniles be Tried as Adults? 5). Although there may be a few downfalls to not prosecuting juveniles as adults, it benefits the youth of the nation far…

The question of censorship, though it may seem a simple question, does not have a simple answer and must be contemplated with careful analysis. First and foremost, elements of the question itself must be defined, including what, where, and how. In this paper, rap music will be defined as “gansta rap”, rap music notorious for common themes such as drug dealing, violence, profanity, misogyny, and homophobia. The area in question for censorship will be limited to the United States. Censorship itself is defined as the “official prohibition or restriction of any type of expression believed to threaten the political, social, or moral order” (Downs). With roots as far back as the Roman Empire, censorship has been a key instrument and characteristic of autocratic and heavily centralized governments. But does our democratic government, which prides itself for its constitutional personal freedoms, have the justification necessary to censor rap music? It is my opinion that rap music should, in some form or another, be censored; however, it should be censored for the sole purpose of protecting the youth.…

Let’s face it, music isn’t what it used to be. What used to be rich, meaningful voices has turned into auto-tuned junkies. What’s worst it that these new age artists insist on filling theirs songs with theirs inappropriate language. These popular profanities are increasingly promoting bad behaviour in our children, therefore should they be played at schools? Should there be certain conditions to these songs? I think so. Music played during school hours should be censored because the profanities that it contains models to use foul language, distract students from theirs initial purpose of being at school (to learn of course!), as well as cause them to go against theirs religious beliefs.…

Many sex education class just preach abstinence, and not how to use birth controls properly or tell the teens of the failure rate. Schools are now getting involved, some even handing out birth control, but not explaining how to properly use them. Birth control decisions should be kept at home, between the parents and the child. Schools should keep teaching sex education, just refrain from giving the students birth control. Schools should start teching kid s more facts about the birth controls and how to properly use them. Schools should also be there for any questions and teach kids the risks of having sex. (Parsons) “Young people get involved in sex primarily because our culture works overtime to promote extra-marital sex, in books, movies, music, television and drama. Teens are taught that sex is something they have a right to enjoy without consequences. Handing out condoms and birth control pills only underscores this fallacy.” (Parsons)…

    Sex Ed

Sex education should be taught at home in a controlled environment. Each parent is different and prefers to teach their kids in different ways. Some parents may not want their kids to learn about sex until a certain age. Teaching sex ed at home prevents our children from learning about sex before they are ready and allows for parents to teach their children at the pace they feel is best for their child. When I was in sex ed class I felt uncomfortable in a classroom full of other kids while learning about the intimate act of sex. I do not want my child to have to endure that feeling and the risks of being made fun of by other kids who are not taking the class seriously. Sex is not a public act and should not be taught in public school. I believe that if sex ed is taught in schools it makes it easier for children to talk openly about it with their peers. This makes it easier for them to have sex. In the 50’s girls did not propose sex because they…
