THE VICE PRESIDENT, THE PRODUCT MANAGER AND THE MISUNDERSTANDING

A. Point of view

B. Statement of the problem
The attitude that the vice president, Nick Smith, acts in front of his people.

C. Objectives
To be able discern on what would be the effect of the vice president’s rude treatment to one of his people

D. Areas of consideration * Individual conflict between the product manager and the vice president * The attitude itself of the Nick Smith * the managers perception towards their vice president

E. Alternative courses of action

* Nick Smith, the vice president, should act gently towards his people.

Advantage – this would create a harmonious relationship between the vice president and to the managers. The managers would be highly motivated and they can excellently preform their job because they could feel no pressure from the vice president.

Disadvantage – the people in the company, especially the product managers, would might took advantage of the vice presidents gentle approach to them. If he will act as what he showed to Brewster, the people might refuse to cooperate with him.

* Nick Smith should apologize to Tom Brewster

Advantage – this would make him more as a leader because he respects his people humanely.

Disadvantage – it will make the people think that it is fine to act as stupid because the vice president will ask an apology to them. This would result an unproductive decision making in the future.

F. Recommendation
My recommendation into this problem is that the vice president, Nick Smith, should treat his people gently in a way that respect as the vice president of the company is still there. Having a harmonious relationship with your people can create exceptional strategies and more sound in decision

    After reading this book, I realized that I already use a lot of the things that Focazio focuses on. I decided I would use this assignment to reveal what I do when I’m not being a fulltime student. Since I can remember, I was raised to be a super hero. I was raised in a life where magic wasn’t a myth and extraordinary powers were a common everyday thing. I decided to go through things in the book I liked a lot and relate them to things I’ve learned from becoming the hero that I am today. He then went further into detail about the motivations I should stay away from. I told him my motivation was to defend the good against the bad at all costs. I wanted to lay my life down on the line for those who couldn’t defend themselves against the bullies. I knew what lied ahead of me when I made this decision…well I thought I knew. After my conversation with my Sifu that night, I flew to my favorite spot, at that point-in-time, and meditated about the hardships to come.     In this case study Roger Cahill has been acting as the head of mobile division for less than a year. Currently he is struggling as he faces great difficulties adapting BoldFlash to a changing marketplace. The problem really started a year ago when Mr. Jim Harrison appointed the young Roger Cahill to a VP position. Although Roger has led a research project in his previous work, he is only 24 years old and inexperienced to manage a company at VP level. Also the four groups within the division, product development, marketing, sales and manufacturing are constantly in conflict and don’t have the reinforcement from the leadership to work as a team. Although Cahill has observed the dysfunctions, he has not implemented any processes or trainings to work as a cross functional team. The company’s profit margins are low and Cahill has to take initiatives to suggest number of changes. With the staff that has low morale and lacking motivation, Cahill has to develop action plan for improvement. He has to define roles and propose organization change design to deliver an outcome necessary to be successful and generate higher profits.…
