The Unspecialization Of Stem Cells
Stem cells are an undifferentiated cell of a multicellular organism that is capable of giving rise to indefinitely more cells of the same type, and from which certain other kinds of cell arise by differentiation. The body is not able to produce new neurons to repair spinal cords injuries, such as those that cause paralysis. Because of this, there is no way for doctors to restore movement to paralyzed people. Stem cells may be the perfect solution to that problem.
Researchers have found that implants of stem cells can reverse the effects of brain injuries in mice. They are hoping that is true for humans also. Researchers have shown that bone marrow stem cells can sometimes develop into nerve cells, and that brain stem cells can develop into blood cells. Stem cells have three general properties: they are able to divide and renew themselves for long periods, they are unspecialized, and they can give rise to specialized cell types.

They all can become muscle cells, blood cells, brain, or liver cells. That is what is very interesting about stem cells. They are going to be used for diseases because researchers have found that stem cells help other animals get better. Like the mouse earlier in the essay. It may also be used for screening new drugs and toxins. Stem cells are basically like the repair system of the body. When the stem cell divides, it can either stay a stem cell or become another cell like a muscle, blood, or brain cell. Stem cells are a big part of the body. Scientists think that this cell can possibly have an effect on diabetes and curtain diseases. These cells are very important to the

    5. Stem cells are cells that have the potential to divide and create new stem cells or become a different cell type with a specialized function. A totipotent stem cell is a cell that can become any type of human cell. Pluripotent stem cells can become any cell, but cannot give rise to an entire organism. As they divide, they become more specialized. Multipotent stem cells can become a limited range of cells within a tissue type. Unipotent stem cells can only become one cell type.…

Stem cell research is a fairly new study which has gained a large amount of popularity lately. Stem cells are cells that have the potential to become specialized into different types of cells within the body. What this can do is help replace damaged cells with healthy new cells since stem cells are able to adapt to what is needed. The research going on is to discover how this can be used medically to help cure major diseases out there in the world.…

Stem Cells are unspecified cells that have the capability to renew themselves through cell division. They can be made to become tissue or organ specified cells; for example they can be turned into muscle cells, red blood cells, or even brain cells. There is much disagreement on the ethics of stem cell research, such as abortion, cloning, and the fear of progression to Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World.…

I would like to introduce you to Embryonic Stem Cell. Embryonic stem cell are by most scientists and researchers to cure spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, Alzheimer's diseases, heart disease, hundreds of rare immune system and genetic disorders and much more. These Embryonic Stem cell have the ability to form doll adult cell types. Stem cells are found limited quantities in every human body, and can be extracted from adult tissue with great effort but without harm.…

First, where do stem cells come from, and what properties do they exhibit that make them stem cells? Human embryonic stem cells come from an embryo that develops from an egg. These eggs were originally collected for reproductive purposes. The eggs are fertilized in vitro, and the embryo is donated for research. The donation only happens after the eggs are no longer needed. The donor is informed of the intended use, and consent has been given. These stem cells are found when the embryo is between three and five days old. The embryo, at this point in development, is called a blastocyst. It is the inner group of cells in the blastocyst that contains the stem cells. “Stem cells have three unique properties: they can divide and renew themselves for long periods; they are unspecialized; and they can give rise to specialized cell types ("What Are the Unique Properties of All Stem Cells?").”…

Stem cells are the most basic, but useful cells in the human body. They are the building blocks of the body because as an embryo, the body is formed out of stem cells that transform into the various specialized cells in the body. Most stem cells in adults are cells types like muscle, bone or nerves, but they don't preform a specialized function. When needed, the stem cells transform into a cell that performs a specialized function. In adults, stem cells are most commonly obtained from bone marrow. Other places to acquire stem cells include fetuses, embryos and umbilical cords. Stem cells are very important cells in the human body.…

1.0 Introduction 1.1 Background of the Issue In recent years, the phrase 'stem cells' has become a popular and widely published scientific topic. Debate and discussions about stem cells are everywhere, including magazines, television, etc. Basically, stem cells are a class of undifferentiated cells that are able to differentiate into specialized cell types. Commonly, stem cells come from two main sources: embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells (Crosta, 2008).…

A stem cell is a cell that can specialize into different types. There are two main categories: adult stem cells and pluripotent stem cells. Adult cells are found in people all ages, their job is to replace cells that wear out. They can develop into many different types of cells, but not all types. Pluripotent stem cells can become any type of cell. All cells in an embryo are pluripotent stem cells. Researchers have harvested pluripotent cells from embryos. Scientists refer to them as embryonic stem cells. In recent advances, a third type of stem cell, the induced pluripotent stem cell. It behaves like an embryonic stem cell but can be made from any cell.…

Stem cells, often called the building blocks of the human body, are positioned within the body’s blood, tissues, organs, and immune system. Once they are transplanted, they have the capability to either reconstruct or restore a patient’s damaged cells which could enhance the patient’s health; and in some cases can conclusively save a person’s life.…

What exactly is stem cell research about? Did you know that stem cell research has been around for over 30 years now? According to “Stem Cells for Dummies” the book, stem cells are primitive or unspecialized cells that can help in tissue repair and rejuvenation. When they divide, stem cells have the potential to become any type of cell needed, such as brain, blood or muscle cells, this is what makes them different from other types of cells. There are a couple of different stem cells however, adult stem cells and embryonic. Different kinds of stem cells have different abilities and limitations. Adult stem cells can reproduce themselves and create specific types of cells, but how flexible they are still remains a question. Embryonic stem cells appear to be the most flexible, able to grow indefinitely in the lab and give rise to all the cell types in the adult body.…

Stem cell research is defined by eHow as “a developing technology that focuses on using undifferentiated cells therapeutically to treat human disease and injury. Stem cells are primitive or unspecialized cells that can assist in tissue repair and rejuvenation. When they divide, stem cells have the potential to become any type of cell needed, such as brain, blood or muscle cells.” Stem cells are important for many reasons but the most well-known is that they have regenerative abilities. Stem cells offer potential for treating diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and Parkinson’s disease.…
