The True Face of Islam People think of the September 11 tragedy when they hear the words Muslims or Islam. The media and what it shows about Muslims have made the real picture of Islam fade away. People in the US totally misunderstand concepts of Islam; because only a group of Muslims is presented to people on TV, which gives a misconception to people that all Muslims are the same as what is presented. Islam is a better religion than what most people in the US think. There is a big misunderstanding in the US of how Islam works. People in the US are blinded by what Muslim terrorists do, leading to the hate of every Muslim. The media plays a big role in making sure people think that all Muslims are the same. I saw on the news a Muslim terrorism group named Hamas, and how they are training little kids with guns and teaching them how to hate non Muslims. Seeing Hamas on TV would make me think all Muslims are like that if I was not Muslim. Therefore, it is hard for people to know about Islam, with the media playing with their minds.
Terrorism is a real problem for everyone including Muslims because it gives the wrong idea about Islam. Islam says absolutely nothing about terrorism. Terrorists have broken their oath to Allah the moment they killed innocent lives. Terrorists are ordinary people whose hearts have been blinded with hate and revenge for relatives who died in Iraq or Afghanistan sometimes accidentally by US troops. To not have mercy or tolerance for other’s mistakes is not being a Muslim. Even if terrorists are saying that this is a war and that there is no mercy in wars, they are wrong. Muslims have rules even during wars. The prophet Muhammad said not to burn trees, not to kill women or children, and never to attack at night to not scare children in their sleep. People like terrorists are the reason why people dislike Islam and Muslims.
Peace is what Islam is all about. Islam teaches people tolerance. The prophet Muhammad said “a true believer is easy-going, tolerant, and even-tempered; to forgive others easily, to be tolerant with them, and tread over mistakes of others and to be patient with them.” Terrorism is not the way of Muslims, and the prophet Muhammad gives many example of what all Muslims should follow, and most still do. On the day of opening Mecca located in Saudi Arabia a few hundred years back; whose people have harmed and wronged the prophet Muhammad and even kicked him out of the place where he was brought up. The prophet returns a conqueror along with 10,000 of his companions. Everyone waits to see what the prophet Muhammad will do to the people of Mecca who have cursed at him, mocked him, and threw rocks at him his house and anyone who went in or out of his house. “What do you think I will do to you?” the prophet Muhammad asks the people of Mecca. “A generous person, and the son of a generous brother,” The people of Mecca applied. The prophet Muhammad answers them saying, “then go for I release you.” After all the forgiveness that the prophet Muhammad have given the people of Mecca, comes a man named Fodala who hid a knife under his clothes and followed the prophet Muhammad with the intention of killing him. The prophet felt that he was drawing nearer, then turns around and asks Fodala “what are you thinking about Fodala.” Fodala Answers, “just praising Allah.” The prophet smiled at him and told him “fear Allah Fodala”. Later on Fodala becomes one of the extra ordinary Muslim companions of the prophet. That is one of many examples of how Muslims are, but terrorists have forgotten forgiveness and that is why they are not Muslims any more.
The Quran and stories about the prophet Muhammad and his companions are what guide Muslims. Many Muslims try to follow in the footsteps of the prophet and his companions. However, some people get lost along the way; Muslim terrorists are an example of people off the track of the Quran. Muslim terrorists have ruined the beautiful reality of Islam replacing it with a picture painted with innocent blood; that is the reason to the dislike of Muslims in the US. Islam is not a religion that promotes neither terrorism nor the killing of innocent lives, instead it teaches love, cherish, tolerance, and forgiveness towards Muslims and non Muslims.
