1. Please explain Pluralism.
Pluralism is a theory that centers on the idea of how power is distributed. The pluralist model indicates that power is distributed among many groups within society, a system of government, or an organization. These groups may include coalitions of like-minded people, unions, professional associations and business lobbyists. The Pluralists believe the following: Power is spread and disjointed or divided. Groups provide a more effective means of representation. The larger the group the more influence it will have. Policies are established through bargaining and compromise and tend to be fair to all in the end.

2. Briefly explain the “Treadmill of Production”. What are some indicators mentioned as outcomes of the treadmill of production?

The Treadmill of Production refers to the emphasis on a system that must continue to grow and with that growth continues to produce more products and services which require more energy and resources. Along with this increasing production consumer waste also continues to grow.

Some of the indicators mentioned as outcomes of the treadmill of production are the following: the number of temporary workers increasing, the richest 85 people on the planet possess as much wealth as do the poorest 3.5billion, 1% of the population of the United States possesses around 40% of the wealth in that country, real wages have declined precipitously since the early 1970’s, greater pollution levels, increase in exporting jobs, and increase in downsizing

Also, it involves the encouragement of humans dominating the Earth and men dominating women. This is not a true Christian view or part of Christian biblical doctrine and I do not believe that it relates to the Christianity of the Bible in any way.
