The Sun as you know it is what keeps the Earth from freezing, and what keeps us alive. Without that giant ball of gas nothing would be able to survive and eventually we’d all die. Plants would die without sunlight, then animals, thus the extinction of humanity. It’s best you learn about the thing that keeps us alive, The Sun. Mass The Sun is by far the largest celestial body in our solar system. It contains more than 99.8% of the total mass of the solar system, and Jupiter contains most of the rest. About one million Earths could fit inside it. The Sun is just an ordinary star, and that’s true because there are many others similar to it but there are smaller stars than larger ones; The Sun is on the top 10% by mass. The Sun is about 70% hydrogen and about 20% helium. Everything else like metals is about less than 2%. This changes as the Sun turns hydrogen into helium in its core. The radius of the giant star is 432,288 miles, while the mass is 1.982 x 1030 kilograms.
