Zika virus Zika is probably the most talked about virus of 2015-2016. After all, it was being spread during the Olympics in Rio, Brazil. Zika is carried by mosquitos. It is called the Aedes mosquito. Zika can cause fever, it can give you a rash, Joint pain and red eyes which can last for days. Zika can’t just infect you by touching you, it has to go through your immune system. The immune system is your body’s defense system against viruses. The immune system is not easy for viruses to get through. The immune system is not perfect, so viruses can still get through. The Zika virus cell has different parts which all contribute to getting into a host cell. This is called its structure.
The Zika virus is a green ball. Zika does not have a nucleus. The Envelope is the outer part of an infected cell which holds everything in it. Capsids are made with proteins that help it get to a grand host cell. Nucleic acid is what holds the RNA of the cell. RNA is what holds the genetic information of the cell.
