The Significance of Spongebob
Who‘s first words were, ‘May I take your order?’ ”

“Mine were.

“Who made a spatula out of toothpicks in Woodshop?”

“I did.”

“Oh, who‘s a big yellow cube with holes?”

“I am!”

“Who‘s ready?”

“I‘m ready!”

“Who‘s ready?”

“I‘m ready!!”

“Who‘s ready?!”

“I‘m ready!!! I‘m ready, I‘m ready, I‘m ready…”

And with those words, an American icon was born, but no one could have known it then. He was just a square, yellow sponge living at the bottom of the sea in a town called Bikini Bottom. Had anyone predicted that this little guy would become the frontrunner of television (not just cartoons, television) viewing for the next decade, they would have been laughed out of the room. Now, the cartoon is the virtual life-blood with which Nickelodeon strives to this day. But the show has not only taken Nickelodeon to new heights, it has also left a permanent impression on American culture; an impression in the shape of that goofy smile permanently affixed on SpongeBob’s face. And the show itself has had some real gems as far as episodes go. From those awkward first steps, to the classic moments we’ll remember forever, to the feature length movie that solidified SpongeBob as a worldwide phenomenon. Let’s not forget, however, the impact that this show has had on us, the viewer. From kids to adults, SpongeBob SquarePants brightens the day of anyone who watches his amusing misadventures (well, most people anyway, but that’s another story). Just to think, he’s done all of this while living in a pineapple under the sea.

SpongeBob debuted in July of 1999 and it could only be described as the laugh heard ‘round the world, only it didn’t travel that fast at first. No, first things first, that now all too familiar laugh had to survive the inevitable gauntlet of all new shows - the eager audience. I can only imagine what it must have been like for creator Stephen Hillenberg when he pitched this idea. I can just hear him, “Okay, picture it guys, a talking

With my still-unwavering fondness toward my era’s Disney Channel shows, I, in letting my curiosity wander, and have found myself putting on Disney Channel just to see what “the kids” are watching these days. Rarely am I able to keep the channel on for more than a few minutes, though, because, much to my dismay, I am always quite unimpressed. I find that today’s Disney Channel shows are much less sophisticated and far tackier than those of my childhood. The sense of humor is cliché, and the acting is poorly over-dramatic, making the shows more immature and much less…

Hello Anastasios! Thank you for your great feedback! Yes, Seth has achieved a lot through self-publishing. I chose to pick one thing that he overcame in three different ways. This was difficult for me because, in a sense, they were all similar in that they had to do with self-publishing. I tried to convey the various tools and ways he met these challenges. I believe each of these examples were an answer to a problem or challenge in the industry, two were specific challenges given to Seth from people who are a part of the industry as well. The Squidoo.com collaboration was a little harder to show exact tools used to overcome, however, I think that collaboration itself is a tool that should be utilized as much as possible. I know it will be something…

The project was really unique in the sense that I got to go back and visit my past and feel nostalgic. Captain Underpants without a question was one of my childhood favorites and pushed me in the right direction. I hated reading as a kid, but I made an exception for Captain Underpants. I enjoyed researching the book mostly because I would have more insight and understanding of the actual meaning. The ludicrous thing I found out was that Captain Underpants was the most banned book in the U.S. This was hard to wrap my head around, because Dav Pilkey only had good intentions for writing the series of novels. Through hours of research JJ and I expanded our knowledge on Book Censorship as well as overall suppression content to the public. The information…

It seems like in today's world most celebrities have a political or social cause that they stand for. An example would be how currently celebrities are big in the "Go Green" movement, in hopes to help the environment. Most of the time celebrities stay away from issues that do not involve the United States, but Sylvester Stallone has decided to take a leap of faith and go against the norm. Sylvester Stallone uses the movie Rambo as a social statement about how the world cannot change and to educate people on the crisis in Burma.…

Quickly, the lady was kissing Captain Underpants all over the face, wearing off the effects of the Captain Underpants' powers, turning him back into the mean, old principal. Rescuing the lady was a mistake for Captain Underpants because now he was losing his powers. So then Harold and George started snapping their fingers trying to turn the principal back into Captain Underpants, but there was too much slober all over his face from the lady kissing him. If I were a cartoon character I would choose Squidward from Spongebob for several reasons. First, he is a myopic squid that lives under the sea. How awesome is that? Second, he is a gifted musician and his orthography is music. Whenever he comes up with new lyric while playing his clarinet he had to come up with a nomenclature for it. Lastly, Squidward has good pecuniary skills. He never wastes his money on pointless things. Fourth, He is loyal and hard working. He never leaves his parameter during work on a paradigm shift. He is an omnipotent and obsequious individual. Even if his pay is paltry, he still gives a good effort during work. For example, when Spongebob is absent from work, he will need to take over SpongeBob’s spot even if he is a neophyte at grilling patties. Lastly, he is a pejorative person. If Spongebob and Patrick get in to an arguments he will be a nonsectarian neighbor because he is too mature for…

A hero is a very popular title for those who rescue or save others so to speak. What most people do not know is that there is a way to determine whether characters are true heroes or not and that is through “A Guide to Joseph Cambell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces” (Vogler). Christopher Vogler lays out twelve stages of a hero’s journey, which, if a hero completes them all, then he/she successfully fulfills the archetype and in this instance, Theseus from “Theseus” and Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” do. In “The Little Mermaid”, Ariel goes on a journey in which she finds true love and completes numerous obstacles while doing so, and in “Theseus”, Theseus travels throughout the Greek region and in turn, saves the woman from being killed by…
