The Setting In The Most Dangerous Game By Richard Connell
The setting in the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell is essential to make the plot credible. For example, in order for the plot to work, the story must be set on an island. Once Rainsford gets to the island, he meets a general who loves to hunt. The story has to be set on an island so Rainsford cannot escape from the general’s game. When Rainsford comes face to face with the general, he realizes that there is no escape from the general. “He saw that straight flight was futile; inevitably it would bring him face to face with the sea” (11). Rainsford does not have the option to escape the island. Furthermore, the island must be surrounded by large rocks. This is so no ships can get in and get out to expose the general and
