The Role Of Racial Disparity In The Criminal Justice System
Racial Disparity is defined as ¬¬¬existing in the criminal justice system when the proportion of a racial/ethnic group within the control of the system is greater than the proportion of such groups in the general population. Basically racial disparity is the inequity of arrests and sentencing for certain groups of people which seem to be a huge problem. In order for the racial disparity policy to be successful we must first identify the components that have led to the current level of incarceration. In an article it is said that disproportionate crime rates, disparities in criminal justice processing, overlap of race and class effects, and impact of race neutral policies are all components that contribute to this racial disparity and its increase.

The reason behind this is because these are the races that are discriminated against the most. In my opinion everyone faces some type of racial disparity African Americans face it the most. I feel as though after the terrible events on 9/11, Arabic’s were being discriminated and judged because of their ethnicity. We are in a world where stereotyping has been a continuing factor. There are many factors that will help operate this policy to combat racial disparity and discrimination. It is said that “racial and ethnic disparities in the criminal justice system result from a complex set of policies and practices, which may vary among jurisdictions.” In order to operate this policy we would need the presence and efforts of criminal justice leaders, policymakers, community groups, citizens and law enforcement officials. With these individuals we can implement a powerful policy that will address racial disparity among communities. It will bring citizens and law enforcement officials together to gain an understanding of some things. IN my opinon I feel as though is a law enforcement official or anybody has an issue with a person because of their race, they shouldn’t belong in the position they may
