The Role of Parents in a Child's Life

Children are young people that are not ready to face the world on their own. They need help and, their source of help is their mother and father. A mother and father are the people who have responsibilities over their children. Both parents have different tasks and jobs they do for their children. As a parent, they both have very different obligations. The responsibilities a mother has are very different compared to the responsibilities a father has. A mother’s job is to nurture her child, and a father’s job is to protect his child. A mother’s obligations for her child start right away. From the moment the baby begins to grow in her womb, the list of responsibilities begins. A mother is responsible for safely carrying her baby in her womb for nine months. She has to do everything carefully and cautiously. The baby in a mother’s belly is so fragile. A mother also has to watch what she is eating and drinking during her pregnancy. For nine whole months, a mother is sacrificing her wants and desires in order to create a healthy child. After the baby is born, even more responsibilities come a mother’s way. A mother is responsible for nurturing her child. She’s there to care for and encourage the growth of her child. If her child is hurt, the mother is expected to take care of him and make him feel better. If he is sick, the mother is the one that stands by his side, making sure that all his needs are met. A mother usually cooks and cleans for her children. She makes sure her kids are living in a nice, healthy environment. A mother is a child’s go-to person. If there is ever a small problem, a child would turn to his mother first. Mothers give up so much time in their lives to make sure they leave a good life for their children. They carry so many responsibilities and make so many sacrifices to make sure their children are happy. A father’s responsibilities are very different from a mother’s. The leader of a family is typically the father. The father is the backbone of the family, and he makes sure his family is on top of everything. If there are major problems in a family, the father is the one that settles it. The person who makes the important decisions or has the last say in a family is usually the father. He keeps his children organized and makes sure there is not chaos in the household. The father takes care of the mechanical problems in the house too. He makes sure that everything is working properly and everything is fixed so his children are safe. Safety is a father’s highest priority. He is responsible for protecting his children from the dangerous things that can hurt them. In movies, if a burglar ever gets inside the house, the father is usually the one that comes down the stairs with a baseball bat. Ideally, every father plays that role. The father is the one that kills the bug that everyone else is afraid to kill. He is willing to do the things in the house that could be scary to others. The parent who mostly disciplines their child is also the father. When children have to be punished or learn from their mistakes, their fathers take care of the issue. Fathers have very different responsibilities than mothers. Both a mother and a father play an important role in their child’s life. They both make sacrifices to make sure their child is living the best life possible. It seems like women make the most sacrifices for their families. A mother is already going through so much pain during pregnancy and birth, and she is making even more sacrifices for her children after they are born. Although a father is also making sacrifices too, a mother seems to go through so much more. They are responsible for nurturing their children, and that is a huge task. Parenthood should not work this way. The responsibilities over the children should be shared among the father and mother. Both parents should be responsible for nurturing and protecting their children. The tasks should not be divided between the mother and father. Together, the parents should raise their kids and make sure they are living a safe and happy life. It would be much fairer and both parents would equally play in an important role in their child’s life. I showed both of my parents my essay and they reacted very differently. When I showed my essay to my mom, she completely agreed with me. She agreed with how I thought women made more sacrifices and went through so much more than men. She thinks that mothers have it harder, and they have many obligations for their children. My mom was satisfied with my essay. My dad thought my essay could have a few changes. He agreed with how I thought the father is the leader and the protector of the family, but he did not agree with women making more sacrifices than men. He thought that mothers and fathers were equally sacrificial. He thinks that both parents put in so much into the family and not just the mother. I have to agree with my dad. Although a mother goes through so much, a father does a lot of work too. Both of my parents have worked so hard to create a good life for me and my brothers.
