Democracy is a political system in an organization or a state where all its members have an equal portion of power. After the three to four decades surrounding the war for independence in America, the birth of American democracy steadily began. Democracy in America was founded on the principle of active political involvement of the citizens. This involvement by citizens is acknowledged in voting and electing a leader who will represent them. Among the documents which provided a basis for the foundation of American’s democracy was the Magna Carta (Kemp, 2010). King John of England sealed the document in 1215.
