People from all over the world travel far distances to America to breathe freedom. Numerous people believe that immigrants are destroying society, when in reality, they are the ones that bring over work, connections, and talent. The masses that settle in America create new jobs or work the jobs American natives tend to ignore. Immigration has rapidly become a bigger topic of discussion over the years. Immigrants constantly deal with harassment from natives. Harassment ranging from being racist to telling them to go back to their native country. Instead of seeing immigration as a bad thing, natives need to witness that positive outcomes of having immigrants. One line that is known to have been said a lot is “go back to your own country.” Racial slurs are commonly used to degrade immigrants, making them feel less about making America a home for themselves and their family. People have migrated from Asia, Africa, South America, and Mexico to gain freedom in any way. Freedom in speech, freedom to choose what to do, freedom in personal rights, etc. (Walsh). It is said that those who come to America poor, now prosper in success and wealth. Immigrants would work just as hard or even harder to make a living in this country. They are willing to work hours on end to put a roof over their or their family’s heads. They are willing to do any kind of work just to provide what is necessary. Because America holds so many opportunities, they come over to receive the opportunities their country did not provide. Immigrants are willing to do a lot, yet are hindered from doing so because natives throw around racial slurs or is just upset that immigrants are taking over the work force. More and more people travel over each year. Immigrant not only have the opportunity at having a better life, but immigration can also help economic growth. If an immigration form is ever passed, it would “increase U.S. employment and raise wages (Engler). In doing so, millions of workers will be added to the labor force. It is highly said that immigrants are more likely to start a business than native workers. According to Engler, immigrants and their children has established more than forty percent of “U.S. fortune five hundred companied.” These immigrants turned their American dream into and American reality. America needs to allow people to travel here and contribute to the U.S. their skills and talent for economic prosperity. An immigration reform known as the DREAM (Development, Relief, and Education of Alien Minors) Act has been trying for years to be passed. This act allows illegal immigrants a chance at having rights and a life as an American citizen. To have this chance comes with requirements. An illegal immigrant would have to be accepted and attending an institution of higher education or serve in the US military for at least two years. One would have to have entered the US before sixteen years old. One must have lived in America for five straight years. And one must have a good moral character.
