Epic Paper There are always hardships and battles that a person must experience in order to have true love. Some people give up with fighting for love, while others fight until their last breath. In the epic movie, The Princess Bride, the characters go through many obstacles, so they can achieve this type of real love; in any epic story, the hero must fight certain battles in order to accomplish this task. The story has three main battles that Westley must face, so he can save his lady love, the battle against her kidnappers, the battle against nature (the Fire Swamp), and the battle against Prince Humperdink. To begin with, Westley has to face each of Buttercup’s kidnappers in a battle, so he can save her. Each fight becomes harder as he goes along with his quest to save Buttercup. The first battle is a battle of skill against Inigo Montoya. Inigo has trained for 20 years on a quest to avenge his father’s murder, and he has become very swift with his sword. He tells Westley that he wants to give him a fair shot in the battle because he likes him. After Westley defeats Inigo, he moves on to his next battle which is against Fezzik, the giant. This battle against Fezzik is a battle of brawn. Fezzik is an enormous giant also hired by Vizzini, along with Inigo to help him kidnap Buttercup. Before the battle begins, Fezzik throws a rock at Westley to try to startle him. Westley already knows that this battle will be tougher than his battle with Inigo, so he jumps on Fezzik’s back to weaken the giant’s strength. Finally after a tiresome battle, Westley beats the giant, and he moves on to his final and hardest battle against Vizzini, which is a battle of brains. Vizzini thinks that he is so smart and that no one can outsmart him. He has no compassion or remorse for anything or anyone and this is why this battle is the most important. The battle

The Princess Bride is fantastical novel written by William Goldman. The novel is written under the façade of being an abridged version of S. Morgenstern’s fictitious “classic tale of true love and high adventure”, which Goldman has generously decided to abridge and cut the “boring parts” out of. Goldman’s journey to abridge the timeless classic provides the frame story for the main story, which is set in a semi-historic medieval society, utilizing multiple POV switches throughout the novel as well as an an omniscient narrator—Goldman. The inner story follows Princess Buttercup, the most beautiful woman in the world, as she is kidnapped by a trio of hired bandits posing as circus performers—Vizzini, the devil Sicilian, Fezzik the Giant, and…

Love plays one of the largest roles in William Goldman's The Princess Bride. This story presents love in many different forms. Some characters claim their love to be true for each other, for others this is not the case. The reason love is such a major theme is that it is what sparks the interesting events in the book. Actions such as revenge and dramatic rescues are all sparked through love. Therefore love is present in almost all aspects of The Princess Bride, and is seen is both minor and major characters.…

The film “When Harry Met Sally” is rife with examples of interpersonal communication victories and utter failures. The main characters- Harry Burns played by Billy Crystal and Sally Albright played by Meg Ryan- are captive to each other’s company during a car ride from Chicago to New York and quickly find they maintain very opposite viewpoints on much of life, especially relationships between men and women. The premise for the argument and the remainder of the film is the disagreement as to whether or not women and men can be friends without sex getting in the way. Harry maintains it is not possible, and Sally takes the opposite position. Throughout the film Harry and Sally display a number of different communication traits. Their style of communication is determined largely by the way they regard themselves and the way they perceive others. These factors of communication provide for a rollercoaster of interactions throughout the film.…

Princess and the pea didn’t have a bipolar for a stepfather. Can you see it? Her in her royal pink nightdress, awakened by the turbulence of shotgun shells atop the tile floor. A shotgun makes more of an impact than you think, but if she is pestered by a pea, I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t have survived this story. Sometimes I wonder if the tickling in my back in the morning is that shell reminding me that if it was a little more keen I probably either wouldn’t be here or writing this by the air pulses id blow into a straw like Christopher reeves. Irregardless – my stepfather is lucky his actions only resulted in a puncture wound in my king size mattress after chucking a rock at the passing car on the dirt road near my house. If I was to ask him why he decided a 12 gauge shotgun was the best solution to a neighborhood speeder, he would ask me to shut up and find the remote control. This story must be released from my memory because I can’t get over the mechanics of it.…
