The Possible's View Of Young Earth Creationism
Young earth creationism is the belief that God directly created the universe, including earth and all life on earth, less than 10,000 years ago. Young earth creationists assert that this direct act by God took place in six, 24 hour days. This differs greatly from old earth creationism, which holds the belief that earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. Old earth creationists base this theory on geological time scale, different interpretations of Genesis, and various scientific dating methods. Although young earth creationism is typically dismissed by both secular and Christian scientists, this view of the origin of earth is not only biblically accurate, but scientifically accurate as well. There is much biblical and theological …show more content…
Old Earth creationists typically hold the belief that animals died before the fall. If this were true, and animals died before the fall, why does the Bible say, “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.”? Were disease, sickness, and death in the earth before the fall? If old earth creationist dating methods are correct, then yes. But, if the Bible is absolute truth, then those dates are inaccurate and there was no pre-fall death or disease in the world. A righteous and perfect God would not approve imperfection. This also means that geological record of fossils and layers could not be millions or billions of years …show more content…
If the earth is billions of years old, like old earth creationists suggest, the sediment thickness accumulated on the ocean floor should be many miles deep. On average, wind and water erode approximately 19 billion tons of rock and dirt debris from the continents, and deposit them on the seafloor every year. Furthermore, the average global measurement of the sediment thickness on the seafloor only measures to be 1,300 feet. At this specific rate, 1,300 feet of sediment would only accumulate in 10 to 12 million years. The Genesis flood is responsible for much of the present sediment. This aligns with the Biblical account of the flood, the young earth theory, and the present sediment accumulation. Another interesting piece of scientific evidence is DNA found in “ancient” fossils such as dinosaurs. Many scientists have discovered DNA in ancient fossils that are said to be millions and billions of years old. Chemistry tells us that DNA can not last for millions of years, therefore these “ancient” fossils can not be millions of years old. Rather, they are thousands of years old. Some scientists have also reported finding bacteria from the guts of ancient animals. Again, bacteria can not survive for this amount of time. This proves that these “ancient” fossils have died within the past thousands of

Fossils help determine the relative age of strata because when a scientist discovers that fossil they can then place a time frame of when that organism was alive. Scientist’s already have certain time frames that they follow, so when they find a fossils that are within that strata then they can determine when that organism was alive they can then place that organism into that time frame. All three of the localities which are Paradoxides pinus within the Paleozoic Era, Billingsella corrugate which is also in the Paleozoic Era, then there is Perisphinctes tiziani I believe, which is in the Mesozoic Era, and last the Dictyoclostus americanus which is located in the Paleozoic Era, all of these are within the same relative age they are found within the same time frame as each other. The only thing that was missing in the figure on pg.68 figure 3.6 was layer D this may have been because of possible erosion or it may have never deposited at all. That is very likely that it may have existed at one time, but the erosion from may have destroyed it. Although some scientists may argue that fossils are not a good way to determine the age of some organisms I feel as though it is a good way because the fossil is found in that layer of strata so therefore it should be placed in that time frame. The fossils that where found were between the Paleozoic Era and the Mesozoic Era because of this knowledge the scientist can determine that the fossils that were found are probably between 65 million years to 251 million years old. This allows scientists to see how the Earth has changed or evolved over the different Eras.…

At first, it may appear as though there are many different explanations of how the earth came to be; however, with a closer look one can see that all explanations have the same message. Science and the Bible, often considered polar opposites, tell the same story just with different words. For instance, Genesis One and The World’s Biggest Membrane describe an ongoing process of creation. It is clear in Genesis One that God did not get it right the first time. After creating man God thinks, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (2:18-19) Immediately following this thought God forms ‘wild animals’ and ‘all the birds in the sky’, unfortunately, this attempt is unsuccessful. God has no success until he eventually creates a woman from the man, to be his helper. He goes through a process of trial and error, rather than it happening all at once. Therefore, it is clearly evident that some form of evolution took place before the earth was completed for the time being. Lewis Thomas’ ideas parallel this when talking about the atmosphere. He talks about…

This question has been up for debate for centuries. There is evidence for many viewpoints and should not be a acrimonious principle with the realm of Christianity. Let’s refer back to the Hebrew term re-shit which does not refer to a specific length of time, but only a starting point. This allows for a student of religious studies/Christianity to merge science and faith without questioning the Scriptures.…

In the article, “Reading Between the Fossil Lines,” by Gleason L. Archer (reasons.org, 1 October, 2001), the author states that one of the biggest arguments against the literal validity of Genisis 1 comes from the evidence of the age of fossils and minerals as studied and proven in geology. Fossils are preserved remains of plants, animals and organisms that existed in the past. Paleontologists have recorded significant amounts of data to support that fossils are tangible proof of an earth that has been around longer than 10,000 years. In Progressive Creationism, there is room for rhetoric, allegory, metaphor and hyperbole in interpretations of the Scripture. Fossils’ strong scientific evidence defines an existence of…

Many Christians also believe in a new earth. Christopher L. C. E. Witcombe is one of these Christians. He rejects the Carbon dating method for many different reasons. “The Earth 's magnetic field has been decreasing. This will increase the level of cosmic rays in the upper atmosphere, generate more C-14,…

The example is of Mary Leakey’s discovery of footprints in volcanic ash at Laetoli in Tanzania. Here, three sets of footprints were discovered that display “the raised arch, rounded heal, pronounced ball, and forward pointing big toe necessary for walking erect.” (Longino & Doell, 213) Adding to the evidence, the distance between the footprints and pressure shown are indicative of a striding gait. From this evidence, Leakey determined that only an upright, fully bipedal creature could have created those prints. Using organic material imbedded in the prints, Leakey could date the footprints to 3.59-3.77 million years ago. Since bipedalism is the determination for hominid status, we can determine with certainty that hominids developed as early as 3.59 million years ago. This settled the debate over whether a larger brain or bipedalism developed first (Agnew & Demas). These footprints are close to 1 million years older than the earliest known stone…

    Four Geological Eras

These one-celled organisms helped to make the air and water around the Earth full of oxygen, forming new life. Next, photosynthetic organisms became part of Earth by using carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and releasing oxygen. The last life form to develop in this era were simple soft bodied animals, since soft bodies do not have vertebrates there are not many fossils as evidence from this era. Scientists know that one-celled organisms, photosynthetic organisms, and soft bodied animals were the first species on earth by the following information, “The amount of C-14 in any sample of carbon containing material can be found by measuring the level of radioactive decay, and comparing that with the decay rate observed in a carbon sample exposed to the continual mixing at the surface of the earth of C-12 and C-14 produced in the upper atmosphere. Using the ratio of C-14 to total carbon, one can determine the age of the sample.” As a culmination, carbon dating, examining index fossils, and using relative dating reveal to scientists the milestone of the first organisms in the Precambrian…

In relation to richness in different life forms, Earth consists of about, or more than, 1.5 million different types of life forms. This proves the hypothesis of, “How present day forms of life arose from other forms of life over a considerable amount of time. As a result, biodiversity has increased throughout Earth’s history.” Another evidentiary fact is the “Lab22DiversityInTheFossilRecordData.xlsx,” which explains, and demonstrates different organisms that were discovered, and were given an estimated time they were living. A family by the name of “Tachyglossidae,” has been logged in the fossil record as supposedly living from seven million years ago, and last seen 100 years ago, were it had credibly been assumed as extinct.…

Recently, new speculation has shown that mother earth may in fact not be 4.5 billion years old, as has been taught in schools for many generations. However, young earth creationist believe that the world is only approximately six thousand years old. According to the Christian Bible, if we were to follow the chronology of many of its books including Genesis, Exodus, Galatians and 1 Kings, we would gather a general timeline of when God created the universe and the Earth. No where in the Bible does anyone give an exact date; however, we can get a very close estimate and rough explanation why the earth is not 4.5 billion years old. According to evidence, it is physically impossible.…

To me, it is not surprising that scientific evidence support a young earth perspective because the Scripture which I believe is the owner’s manual of the earth proved beyond any reasonable doubt that the age of this earth is in thousands and not millions or billions years as believed by evolutionist. I commend the efforts and all the hard work of the brave team of seven creation scientists from Institute for Creation Research for their success of completing eight- year’s research project known as RATE, or Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth. According to RATE, for over a hundred years, evolutionists have insisted that the earth is billions of years old, and have arrogantly dismissed any views contrary to the belief. The results and Scientifics evidence of RATE outcome were fascinating; some of which are listed on their web site. Evolution Science evidence supporting the age of the earth changes from time to time as new development or new experiment shows up from time to time. But as for the Bible, the original manuscripts does not change it remains same forever. “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” 1…
