The Play 100 Brains By Natalie Gaupp
On Thursday April 19, 2018 I attended the play 100 Brains with several of my fellow classmates at the Studio Theatre in the University’s campus. The play was written by Natalie Gaupp and it narrates the story of Alix Liddell whom recently graduated from college with a bachelor she didn’t really want but instead was advised to finish it because she was running out of time. After her graduation, she starts looking out for the perfect job, but with a made up resume of her own, which leads her to Brillig- Labs where the story reflects many of the characters from Alice in Wonderland. My little friend Ivan is 5 years old he is a nonverbal autistic whom also happens to suffers from light hypersensitivity. The play overall was full of perceptible information, which he would’ve enjoyed watching it; the information that was communicated was the necessary, and they used different modes to present it (sounds, big cat paw, the projected images in the walls, and the exaggerated costumes worn by the actors).Many of the features of this play promoted an inclusive environment not only for Ivan but for others as well, overall it was family friendly play. The show was during the night, seating wasn’t assigned, there were people also suggesting and guiding towards seating, the arrangement of the stage was nontraditional, and the play had several characters of a well known children story. Ivan is a bubbly and happy kid that doesn’t allow his autism to stop him, because of his age
