The Partnership Development Committee
MEMORANDUM

TO: John Smith CEO
FROM: Alex Klein, Chairperson of Partnership Development Committee AK
SUBJECT: Recommendation for a Job Shadowing Program
DATE: March 30, 2013 RECOMMENDATION The Partnership Development Committee recommends that UT Federal Credit Union initiate a job-shadowing program for two students majoring in Business Management at Pellissippi State Community College in order to fulfill the Board of Director’s strategic goal to “develop strong partnerships with area colleges.” DEFINITIONS AND BENEFITS OF JOB SHADOW Job shadowing is a reciprocal program between business and education in which student interns follow professionals at work for a designated period of time to learn more about requirements for careers in the field. An article written for the Association for Career and Technical Education states, even though the students are not being paid, they receive other rewards: the chance to explore a career that is of interest to them, seeing the workforce environment firsthand and witnessing the necessary skills as applied on the job. Not only does job shadowing build career awareness, it can also reinforce student learning (Reese). Furthermore, job shadowing gives students the chance to see the work in action, to get a close-up look at what a career they’re considering will be like (Lozada). From this information it is clear that a job-shadowing program is beneficial to all parties. DESCRIPTION OF RECOMMENEDED PROJECT Intern Qualifications Because we predict over 40 students from PSCC will apply, eligible candidates must have acquired at least 32 hours of credit while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Students must have taken ACCT 2000, MGMT 2000 and ENGL 2950. In addition, students must submit a one-two page essay on why they would be a good fit for the position. After narrowing to 10 candidates, the selection committee will conduct 15-minute interviews to select the two interns. Mentor

The partnership model is one of the limitations of LorPel because when a problem arose, each of them held different ideas, and none of them had the authority to make the final call. If they would not compromise regarding the firm’s blueprint at all, the partnership might have to come to an end. Normally speaking, if there are no specific company policies in place to direct and govern a firm, the operation or growth would not sustain for a long time. In partnership like LorPel, the success of the business heavily depended on the three partners. It is obvious that business risk of the partnership is rather high because none of them was not regarded as experienced and successful businessman.…

The aim of this paper is to gather information about a patient or client in a holistic assessment and use this data to determine the two priority issues that a nurse would address using the Collaborative Partnership Model and the McGill Model. The client, who also may be referenced as “she”, is an independent female client. She uses a walker, is not on oxygen and is very outgoing and social. She has had a stroke/cerebrovascular incident (CVA), and has been diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD), hypertension, hypothyroidism, syncope episodes, degenerative disk disease, right brachycardia, heart block and has had a dual chamber pacemaker inserted. The client admittedly smokes about 3 to 6 cigarettes per day, and is on various…

it is about finding a job after graduation and is they prepare students for work. For example, in the article, Peter Cappelli, in an interview says that parents, students, and employers are often worried about finding work after graduation (Wharton,2015). This means students are worried about finding a job after graduation because they are not prepared for work. Author Kate Rogers, in her article, says that “employers don’t feel college is preparing students for the workforce (73%)” (Rogers, 2014). This mean 73 percent of employee feel colleges not prepare students for work. In my experience Central Michigan University prepare student by giving them part time job by that they can get experience about work. Some colleges in the United State and in Saudi Arabia prepare students for work and some colleges not. For example, the colleges in Saudi Arabia prepare students for work by giving them part time job or specific classes teach them about work, and students who want to be a teacher colleges making them teach some classes in elementary school or middle school. According to the two articles some colleges prepare students for work and some colleges…

This essay is focused on the study of advantages on future career brought by work experience among graduates. With the growing popularity of so called 'sandwich' courses among universities in UK and Australia, many students would like to spend several months or even one more year for the chance of working in the industry before graduation from universities. A 'sandwich' course is usually organized by institutions as a university degree course which allows students to engage in the industrial placements for six to twelve months(Highfliers Research Ltd, 2012). Other than this kind of long-term work experience, placements during the vacations lasting several weeks are also popular among students with keen competition for these places among the applicants(Highfliers Research Ltd, 2012). In US, one out of every three university graduates has been an intern according to The National Society for Experiential Education(Watson 1995,cited in Gault et al, 2000), the ratio may have increased over the past two decades. This indicates that students generally believe work experience is beneficial in certain aspects given that some of those replacements or internships are unpaid. The following would discuss the relationship between work experience and a success future career for graduates which aims to give students an insight into the benefits of gaining work experience before entering the graduation job market. The study would base on the 3 sources given including a Journal Article, a research report and a web article.…

<br>The work area where I went was inside a building. The employees aren't alone; there are other people's desks near by. This job is certainly not hectic and tense, its more quiet and clam. Sometimes people are walking by, or come in to talk to them though. There are a lot of glass windows, whether it for looking outside, or into the more private office, there is quite a lot of glass, and desks are scattered throughout the building. Some of the equipment used is copy machines, fax machines, and printers. There are computers and phones on the employee's desks. By shadowing my mom, I learned a whole lot about trading and selling stocks. I also learned how the employees have to deal with clients that have problems or questions about their stock. So I know what kind of skills I need, and what I have to do to be a stockbroker. This experience of job shadowing won't really impact my future career decision, because although it was a good and informational experience, it's not really the kind of…

There have been many studies showing both drawbacks and benefits of teens holding a part-time job. Many people praise part-time work saying it contributes to the transition from childhood to adulthood. Some benefits include, learning how to effectively manage finances, learn time management skills, form good work habits, and instill a sense of responsibility and independence. As well as benefits, there are also some drawbacks to teens holding part-time jobs, which include less time for homework, less school involvement, and increased stress. Researchers suggest that students who work less than twenty hours a week gain the benefits of employment while students who work more than that suffer from the drawbacks. Students’ having a part-time job also gives them their first real dose of reality. They get to learn how to maintain good grades in school while working.…

Students learn important social skills when they have part time jobs. They learn how to communicate with others, such as the public or fellow co- workers.
