The Parsley Garden
The story “The Parsley Garden” by William Saroyan is a story of a Turkish boy named Al Condraj . Al the creative person that he was wanted to build things with box wood and nails that he found at Foley’s Packing House. He had wood and nails, but needed a hammer to build which he did not have, so he stole one from Graf’s Hardware. In the process of stealing the hammer he was caught. In the end he went back to the store and worked for a few hours and was given a whole dollar and a job offer, but he left the dollar and took the hammer and went home. He refused the job. Al is very emotionally disturbed person and he lets his pride concor his judgment. We will dive into the character Al Condraj and see how various events thought the story show how he lets emotion override his decision making.

This is the first part in the story where we can see how AL had a desire for the hammer but didn't think he could get caught or what would happen if he was caught. When he was caught he was taken into the manager's office. When Al said this “ I didn’t mean to steal it. I just needed it and I haven’t got any money” this showed how he had no sense of judgment and let his desire take over. Not for one second did he ever think before stealing the hammer I could get caught or what would my mother think of me if she found out. This is a clear example from the story shows how he had no sense of judgment and let his emotional desire take him
