The Order Og Things
Analysis of The Order of Things by Judy Troy the order of things is a short story written by judy troy. it has certain characteristicks that tells us that it is a short story. for example, you have one main character whose life you follow through a short period of time and during this time he has a developement in character. there is an introduction/beginnig, then a developing period, a climax and an open or conclusive ending (in this case conclusive). there are few characters, so the narator can be more precise and detailed about the leading characters.
I would like to start of by giving a charachrerization of carl and thereafter a discription of the relationsship between him and lilly.
Carl (our main character) is in his early forties. he's married to a teacher whom he is not in love with. he works as a reverend at a lutheran church and has recently lost a sister to cancer. he is 6 feet tall with pale eyes, light hair and angular features. he is quite self-conscious and has a hard time being intemate. in the start of the text carl seems like a pretty normal, clean cut guy. he's not particular good looking, doesn't like to take chances, and has no passion for his wife. he seems a bit borring and ordinary but sometimes you just need to find the right person to extract the lessordinary out of you. that is exactly what happens to Carl.
Carl has a very strong developement of character during this story and lily is at the bottom of it.in the start of the text you are imediatly introduced to lilly whom he falls head over heals for. they start an affair as they are both living in unhappy marriages. this isn't just lust, he want's to keep her safe, want's to protect her even though he has no control over that. she brings out parts of him that he hasn't felt in a while. for example he holds her and after they've been intimate. a very simple gesture, but a level of intemasy non the less that he has had trouble expressing in the past. she makes him forget about his

In the short story “weekend” by Ann Beattie, there is one main central conflict between the main characters of Lenore and George. This conflict arises from that fact that George and Lenore have a child together, live in the same house, yet they have no apparent relationship. George is always bringing back women to the house in front of Lenore and she hides how it hurts her deep down. George’s character is portrayed as an alcoholic older man who does not seem to care too much about anything that is going on around him. While Lenore is shown to be a “simple” woman who just lets George walk all over her by showing up with younger girls and who rarely shows emotion. Although Lenore is not as simple as she leads on to George, she has a lot of emotion buried inside of her that she does not always show, and her character is a lot more complex after a second glance.…

The state of Petristan is a vast landmass acknowledged as the subcontinent of India, spreading across the watershed of Paratha Valley in the West and Korma River in the East, with the early civilization which ranged from 2700 to 1700 B.C. Recent discoveries have asserted the notion that the early civilization of Paratha Valley has greatly influenced the formation of the Petristan state. Consequently, The Petristan State Archaeological Survey has selected 5000 sherds from eighteen probable sites by random sampling techniques in effort to investigate the proposed postulation. In principal, relative dating method of seriation has been implemented for deriving a chronological order of these assemblages for better understanding of any prominent flow of Paratha Valley influences to the initial development of Petristan state.…

<br>George's relationship with Lennie has made him selfless; his conversations, with and with out Lennie, are generally revolving around Lennie, although in the case of their dream-ranch George seems to find fulfilment for himself as well. Due to these altruistic tendencies that he shows throughout the novel, a danger is bestowed upon George; he tends to care for Lennie far too much, and too little for himself. In occasional moments, he escapes his sympathy and compassion for Lennie, and realises the burden that he causes. This usually results in George taking his frustration out on Lennie, which can often harm his simple mind, leaving Lennie upset and forced to confess to his own uselessness, and George feeling guilty for what he has caused. We can learn very little about George through his actual conversations, which made it necessary for Steinbeck to focus the novel on him in particular, and let the reader gain an closer insight on him through his actions. Generally, he seems to be caring, intelligent and sensible, but is greatly worn by the constant attention Lennie requires. This illustrates a major theme in Of Mice and Men, the dangers that arise when one becomes involved in a dedicated relationship.…

He was not a very important man, in the common sense of the word. He had never occupied a position of leadership or authority. He had never controlled a large business. He had never possessed great wealth. He was no more than a common man, a dime a dozen. Now he was lying upon a snow white bed, soft and comfortable. His hair was white and disappearing. His skin was faded, pale as parchment. His cheeks were no longer rosy with the energy of his youth. He was thin and light, no longer possessing the strength of his youth. His chest rose and fell gently, like the swell of the open sea. His eyes still held the light and joy of his younger years, but he did not have the energy to carry it out. His mind, however sharp, was dulled by the weakness…

Surprised and frightened by her husband's actions Nikki files a restraining order against him. However, set against social expectations of the period, George and Lennie’s relationship is seen as unusual because of the dependence they hold on each other and the rarity of friendship between people at the time. Lennie depends on George to make the correct decisions for the pair, while George depends on Lennie for companionship and setting him on the right track to achieving their dream. Without each other, they wouldn’t have a future.…

The overall tone of this story is hopefulness. The way it happens for 20 years is just insane. So you would imagine after that many years, something would have happened right? I know if I were to pass someone every single day rain or shine and wave to them, something good must come out of it. This guy is absolutely insane for not making a move quicker. The tone seems kind of neutral till the end because it obviously did not go as he planned as neither did she. It went from 100-0 real quick. From neutral to down right depressing.…
