The Mysteries of the Subconscious Mind There are so many mysteries behind the subconscious mind that many doctors, scientist, and just everyday people have been trying to figure out for decades. It’s interesting how a certain smell; touch, or visual can affect the mind in such a drastic way. It appears that the subconscious mind is tough to access directly through your conscious mind, so this makes it difficult to really know what it going on in our deepest psyche. Every so often, our subconscious minds do make momentary appearances to the conscious awareness.
Subliminal Messages Subliminal messages is defined any sensory stimuli below an individual’s threshold for conscious perception. This basically means any information that you absorb below a certain level of conscious awareness. For example, a move theater owner would put small quick signs that said popcorn or soda throughout the movie, which made the customers get up out of their seats and go buy some popcorn or soda. Another example of how subliminal messages work could be driving pass a skunk on the road can change your whole outlook on the day. There have also been studies that have shown that exposing patients to anti-smoking subliminal messages during elective surgery have helped a great number of patients reduce or even quit their smoking habits by one-month post-surgical appointment. Some research has also shown that subliminal messages do not produce strong or long-lived changes in behavior.
Self-Hypnosis
Self-hypnosis is a form of a trance that is intended to relax the mind and the body. It is a naturally occurring state of mind that enhances the state of focus and concentration. There are many different ways that people can hypnotize themselves such as yoga, closing your eyes and breathing in and out deeply, washing the dishes and focusing just on your hands and
