The Mumbaki Story

Main Characters:
Joseph - a doctor from the city and a son of mumbaki from one of the Ifugao tribes.
Nancy – also a doctor and the girlfriend of Joseph.
Felix – a doctor assigned in Ifugao and arrives 8 years ago before Joseph and Nancy came back to Ifugao.
Apo Dagunay – father of Joseph and also a Mumbaki from Ifuago tribe.
Leader of Alimit Tribe – the one who killed his father.
Dolores – the girl who reconciled to before he study to Manila.
Plot / Summary:
Joseph (Raymart Santiago) has just graduated from medical school and is set on leaving the Philippines with his fiancee (Rachel) for medical job in the U.S.A.. His father Ifugao chieftain of the Lidum tribe in the Mountain Province, died because of the territory war, the leader of Alimit Tribe (their neighborhood tribe) killed his father accidentally that’s why Joseph return to his hometown the Mountain Province for the burial of his father. While there, he discovers rich heritage and acquires pride in his being Ifugao . After this incident the grudge between two tribes is getting fatal. Though the lure of a career in US remains strong, he is unable to resist the urge to help his barrio, which has resisted modern medicine and is now in the midst of a pneumonia epidemic and a civil war. Joseph returns only to discover two ailing problems: First, an epidemic of pneumonia in which his tribe refuses to be treated with modern medicine; and second, the Lidum’s ensuing war with the Alimit with Joseph being the “chosen one” to lead them. an epidemic spread out from both tribes and doctor Felix help the citizens to cure the disease. And both tribes hasn’t forgotten the territory war had both tribes having tribal massacre. Because of that massacre, Jimmy (brother of Joseph) killed by the Alimit Tribe. Nancy made her decision to go back to Manila because of the unexpected incidents. When they came back to
