Each of the members bring different perspectives to the table and understanding each person’s role in the meeting can lessen the amount of confusion. In terms of social work the multi-disciplinary team consists of a physician, nurse, social worker, psychologist, client, parent/caregiver (if the client is a child), and any other staff that is working with the client. To go more in depth I will discuss three specific professionals from this team, the social worker, the psychologist and the nurse.
For the social worker it is important to remember the social work core values and ethics. The social workers role is to also assess the client through biopsychosocials and develop and intervention plan. The social worker considers all the factors that may impact the client positively and negatively.
