The Movie Gladiator
In the film we see Maximus decimus meridus win many victories in fights throughout the movie. The movie Gladiator was made in the year 2000 and it was directed by Ridley Scott. The films setting first starts in Vindobana which is in Austria and Germania and then to the Roman Province of Spain, later on the film takes place in Zucchabar in North Africa. Later on through most of the movie the film takes place in Rome, at the Roman Colosseum. The main character in the movie is Maximus Decimus Meridius he is a general leading the roman army against the barbarians and he has won. As a result of the victory he Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius and the emperors daughter Lucilla favor him. Before the empereror dies he asks Maximus instead of his son Commodus to be the roman

Marcus Aurelius later tells his son Commodus about the decision he has made about choosing Maximus to watch over rome instead of him. Commodus is upset with the decision his father made and thought he never valued him as his son. As a result of Maximus becoming the next roman general, Commodus kills his father as a result of his anger and jealousy towards his father’s decision. Maximus soon finds out about the death of the emperor and learns that commodus has killed his father. Maximus refuses to support Commodus and he is executed, and soon learns that his family is going to be killed. Maximus flees to spain to save his family but is too late and finds them dead. Later on Maximus is found by slave traders and is taken to Zucchabar, he is then purchased by Proximo a slave trainer to be a gladiator. In addition Commodus holds one hundred and fifty day of games in Rome with gladiatorial fights to commemorate his father. Maximus and the other gladiators go to rome to be apart of the games.
