The Mob subculture
SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To inform my audience of the subculture of the mob.
THESIS STATEMENT: I stand before you today to not only explain to you how the mob profits, but the men that knew how to work this system to its potential, and the impact of the mob today.

INTRODUCTION

II. I stand before you today to not only explain to you how the mob profits, but the men that knew how to work this system to its potential, and the impact of the mob today.
III. Almost everything our law enforcement knows now of organized crime is due to the mob.
IV. So the next time you see a dangerous cartel boss put behind bars, you should thank the La Cosa Nostra meaning “our thing” in Italian and the Italian name for the American Mafia.

I. According to the FBI’s official page the mob’s worldwide criminal activity is worth more than $100 billion annually.

i. One of the most effective and common ways for the mob to get revenue is extortion, offering ‘protection’ to get whatever they need your money, your property, or your services. ii. This protection, however, is protection from the vary ones you’re dealing with, if they tell you they’re ‘protecting’ you from your family being kidnapped, they are implying that if you do not comply with their demands THEY will kidnap your family.
b. Perhaps the mafia’s most useful tool in success, and they key to remaining successful, bribery. “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.”- Don Corleone ‘The Godfather’.
