The Media
The Media

The media has been causing problems and clashes in opinions probably ever since the television was invented. The media probably started out OK, but after a while, they started twisting opinions and stories, and taking sides. I think that the media is going to twist a story to make it more interesting once too many times, and someone is going to sue them badly for it. I would like to prove that the media sometimes messes up the truth.

The media sometimes finds a certain person and makes his/her story sound worse and sadder so that they can get sympathy for that person and then asks people to send money to help the person out. Not that that is a bad intention, but it is none of our business. I think that the media should just publish pictures, and then let you choose who you want to feed.

There is also the possibility that the only reason that big news companies just need filler for their network, so they go to another country to find some story on miserable people. If I was in some tribe in Africa or something I would not want anyone bothering me by putting a camera in my face.
I would want the money to buy food, but if someone over in America just needed my story for filler, I wouldn't be too happy.

It should be the tribe's leader that should have to get the tribe out of trouble in any way that he could. It is not our business to send them our money to get food for the people that got themselves into trouble, but I think it makes people feel good to donate things to needy people. I just think that the media isn't telling people the whole story. Maybe the starving people spent all their money on drugs? I doubt that many people would send their hard earned cash if they knew that the person was just going to buy more drugs with it.

I think that the media has been messing up stories and opinions, but
I'm sure that they did some good work also. It would be pretty hard to get every little single fact right, but they shouldn't change things to make

The responsibility of the media was to retell the story of this travesty to the rest of the world, but unfortunately they failed to do so by creating myths and other ideologies as to why the killers followed through with this annihilation. The police also added to some media myths by conducting a news conference prior to receiving credible and correct information. The media took advantage of sensitive issues in order to benefit themselves and grow their audience. They framed the story with controversial topics so they could garner polarizing opinions. The media wants to start conversations in households about why these boys committed this crime and, whatever excuse they provided, they hoped households would run with it. The media wants the public…

There seems to be an inexhaustible number of reasons that one person might go out of his way to assist another. One of the more interesting of these is to give to soothe one's conscience, or to avoid the guilt that comes with not offering help when you can. Ma Joad used this reason to feed the starving children at the first Hooverville they stayed at. She looked at those kids and tried to avoid giving them food so she could feed her family. Even Uncle Tom had a hard time eating his food with those hungry children looking on. Ma eventually soothed her conscience by giving the kids the dregs of the soup kettle, though she knew she should have given the entire helping to her family, as they had less than enough themselves.…

The media controls the way the public views a controversial event. It can create the illusion that everything is perfect by leaving out important information, or can reveal the deplorable truth as the media did during the Civil Rights Movement. It was not always that way though, during the Colonial Era the media glossed over the brutality African Americans faced. It was not until the photography and recorders were invented that the media could really no longer deny the awful reality of the African Americans’ lives. With the Civil Rights Movement as an example, the media has evolved into a more reliable source. As history goes on, African Americans are being reported on more truthfully; the media has evolved into a more objective source containing more factual information.…

For example if you were to give your little sibling a toy that you cherish yet don’t use anymore, you can feel good about the fact that you sibling will cherish it and play with it more than you would have. The same good feeling could come out of you giving your time at a soup kitchen on a holiday. Sure you may rather be at home with you family, having hot coco sitting around the fireplace, but in doing this not only do you get the joy of helping people who are less fortunate than you are but you also get to see these people who don’t have a home to go to and give them what little joy of the season you can offer. There is also a time and place to make sacrifices.…

    Problem with the Media

There has been an ongoing dispute concerning the media's perception of how people are supposed to look. It seems that every year, the expectations of looking thin becomes harder and harder to meet. I know this from a personal experience of my own. A few years ago, I would look in magazines and see girls wearing size one or size two clothes. By look at this at least once every month, I started to feel that I was inadequate and I had to loose weight. Unfortunately, I took my dieting to far and over used diet pills. Because of my abuse to the pills, I almost became addicted and that's when I realized how distorted the media's idea of looking good was. Fortunately there are numerous amounts of people that agree with me. This would include a woman writer, Susan Bordo, who wrote about the media's ideas of being thin, and how she thinks that they are wrong…

While there are many people who give purely for the incentive, they are still helping others, which is the whole point of charity. There are still even more people who donate just because they want to. Those who give for the incentive still make an impact on the world, however, and while their incentive can be selfish, what matters is helping those in need, and offering incentives for contributing gets the job done well. Many people contribute to charities, and while their intentions are selfish, they are aiding the world in making it a better place.…

All in all, to give or not give is our own decision. Personally, I encourage people to give them what they want: ‘’money’’ because this is what they really want and the way they spend it is not our problem anymore. And if you decide against giving money, just give a smile or a gentle ‘’no’’ to their request instead of…
