The Maturity Of Jonas In The Giver By Lois Lowry
In Lois Lowry’s novel The Giver Jonas matures through the whole book. He is as a child
in the beginning and he matures in the middle and at the end is mature and wiser. If you looked
back to the beginning and think about how Jonas acts at the end, you can see a big difference in
his maturity level.
The beginning of the book Jonas is still a child. He still has a lot of growing up to do,
even though he is a pretty responsible for his age. In the book they have volunteer hours, and he
spends his time in various places helping out. Also, he plays games with the other children. He
goes to school and does his school work like he is supposed to. Every morning in his family unit
he shares his dreams. He still fallows the rules. So this shows
