Set in Middle-earth, the story tells of the Dark Lord Sauron, who is seeking the one ring. The ring had found its way to the young hobbit Frodo Baggins. The fate of Middle-earth hangs in the balance as Frodo and eight companions form the Fellowship of the Ring, and begin their journey to Mount Doom in the land of Mordor, the only place where the ring can be destroyed. A fellowship is formed for Frodo and the protection of the ring. This is a biblical reference of Jesus and the disciples who would follow Jesus and preach the word of the Lord. We are all a part of a spiritual fellowship that has been assembled by God, that each has its unique tasks to accomplish.
In the film, Gandalf said to Frodo, “Evil will be drawn to you from outside the Fellowship and I fear from within. You must trust to yourself. Trust your own strength. There are many powers in this world for good or for evil.” Good in the world is not an actuality but an achievement. God finds the world bad, or rather indifferent, and introduces good into it. God is in the world fighting for the victory of good and against evil. Moreover, not other God is the one who loves us and bring us out from the evil. We ourselves will have to put in effort to see what God had planned for us. By controlling ourselves and contain ourselves, God’s direction will be so much clear. Unlike Frodo, he had been distracted by the ring and causes him a lot of trouble. Stay focused and trusts God will bring you a good path.
