The Living Dead Monologue
The Living Dead “Freddy is dead!” cried the maid. “What’s dead?” asked Charlie. “Oh Charlie! Don’t you know the meaning of dead? It means Freddy went to heaven like grandma.”
“Freddy didn’t go to heaven; I tied him tightly to the coat hanger stand.” “You mean you hanged your cat?!” “No! I didn’t do it!” “You killed me, Charlie,” interjected Freddy with a mile-wide smirk extending from whisker to whisker. Suddenly, Freddy transformed into the Grim Reaper with its soul-stained scythe and charged like a raging bull towards Charlie. “No! Not you again! No!” screamed Charlie as he woke up from the nightmare. He grabbed the creaking bedpost with his arthritic hands and got out of the sweat-drenched bed. With one hand on the small of his back and the other on the wall, he limped to the bathroom. After running some cold water in the rusting faucet, he plunged his head into it to calm his nerves. As he grabbed his towel, he noticed the time and date on the digital clock. It was six in the morning of the 15th of May. …show more content…
After calming down, he started contemplating how this event altered his life. He started having flashbacks of the bloated eyes of Freddy pleading him to undo the knot around his neck. Deep in thought, he saw how the paranoia of death disfigured all the happy memories he possessed. It made his life full of sorrow and left him without anything to cherish, like the dead. He believed Death was coming to get him at any moment, so he avoided funerals, hospitals, and any other places where Death usually pays a
